Also it will be priced at $60USD, and doesn't require an Internet connection to play.

I still have to play the first one, but it’s great to see that the Deck keeps getting support

Me too. It's in my library of shame. If you don't have it yet, from time to time its on sale for very cheap price of 4 Euros, so I would wait: SteamDB lowest recorded price is 3.99€ at -90%, Price seen 7 times, last on Jun 1, 2026 (16 days ago) https://store.steampowered.com/app/870780/CONTROL_Ultimate_Edition/

I got it for free from Epic. It was a few years ago around the holidays. I think I’ve seen it again since then. Edit: oh this is a steam deck community…

[-] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah I remember it being free on Epic Games Store. They gave lot of pretty good games away, and lot of people just sign there up for the free games. So that library cannot be ignored (and shouldn't). It can be added manually to the Library view, but one has to go to Desktop mode and install and manage Epic Games account with Heroic Games Launcher. There is even a plugin for Decky Loader to automate some processes for you and integrate game into the Steam Library: https://github.com/mubaraknumann/unifideck I don't use Epic Games, so cannot talk from personal experience.

Epic Game Store games can be played on Steam Deck via Heroic Launcher.

[-] Kevlar21@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks I wasn’t sure. Maybe I should have guessed since that’s what I use on my Linux desktop.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

And you can always just pirate them too, of course!

[-] kieron115@startrek.website 2 points 3 weeks ago

It runs fine under Proton. Heroic Games Launcher lets you claim the free games using a web wrapper.

[-] glimse@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Give it a go. The game's way better than the lack of popularity lets on

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

It’s on Humble right now I think

[-] smegger@aussie.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago

You'll enjoy the first one. Full of atmosphere and controls feel great. +Hints at connected universe with Alan wake.

I kinda want to go back and play it again (for the 4th time)

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago

Not "hints", Alan Wake is right there and is named.

[-] deathmetal27@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Its great. You should. If you like SCP you'll enjoy it more.

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 21 points 3 weeks ago

Deck getting more support = Linux getting more support. That's awesome, hopefully it get other dev doing the same, better yet releasing native version.

[-] tiberius@lemmy.ca 17 points 3 weeks ago

Big fan of Control and this is great news. The Paranatural Manhattan trailer has me very interested. (https://youtu.be/NvncU_SQO5Y).

[-] iturnedintoanewt@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Damn that song slaps. Manalan Mailla.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago

A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. Alan Wake II ran like crap on the Deck.

[-] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 2 points 3 weeks ago

Im happy that the games who are pushing the cutting edge aren't really games that have much longevity beyond their release. Where games that cater to the Steam Deck (and by extension, older gaming PCs) continue to be talked about for years and still getting sales and support.

[-] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago

Can we get Alan Wake 2 on Steam, pls?

[-] Mister_Feeny@fedia.io 9 points 3 weeks ago

Unlikely to ever happen, unfortunately, as Epic is the publisher for AW2.

[-] mtlvmpr@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 weeks ago

Ever is a big word. If Fortnite and Unreal money dry up, then maybe?

[-] Mr_Wobble 8 points 3 weeks ago

Epic fully funded and published it. It's just not happening.

[-] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 weeks ago

Love seeing day one support on Steam Deck.

[-] imetators@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 weeks ago

I am holding my expectations of course, but this is a sign of things to come. Oooh, if gaming goes full linux support, that'll be super fun to watch MS burn to ashes.

[-] Akamun@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago

The first game is so nice. Only thing off is the enemy variety. But that seems to be solved in the sequel. Let's go!

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago

As in Linux Native or not actually support?

[-] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 10 points 3 weeks ago

Probably that they're actively testing in on Deck through Proton, fixing related issues, and adjusting performance to make sure it's a good experience.

I'd rather have a confirmed working windows build under proron than a native linux build. I've had bad experiences with native running worse than wine.

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 weeks ago

I just don't see using 3rd party compatibility tools as support.
