I don’t get what’s so special about this. Even with every day mundane project management, you work with stuff like stakeholder maps and personality types. You have to know if Kevin from Sales is more of a numbers and facts guy or swayed by a good story. If the future of your country is on the line, of course you’re going use all the help you can get.

Or is the news that the USA is run by a mentally deficient man child?

I don’t get what’s so special about this.

Historically, all advanced countries have engaged in this kind of profiling and analysis of their partners and rivals. It's an essential function of statecraft, espionage, diplomacy, and the like. But after a decade of living in TrumpWorld, we've jettisoned a big chunk of our functional bureaucracy in favor of Yes Men, nepo-hires, and whatever the fuck AI is doing. So, the idea that one might use trained professionals to inform a negotiation with a political rival has gone from "No shit!" to "That's what the pros do." to "What a novel idea! Never thought of it before."

Or is the news that the USA is run by a mentally deficient man child?

Hardly just the US. We're not the first country to decay into a gerontocracy of sundowning oligarchs. Hell, this isn't even the first time we've governed ourselves this way (see: Ronald Reagan, Woodrow Wilson, ... Joe Biden)

This is becoming news because the media cycle is also increasingly governed by decrypt fucks, more fixated on the humiliation of losing an exchange of long range explosives than developing long term socio-economic strategy. News anchors are casting around for answers to the question "Why didn't we march into Tehran like we did Baghad and Kabul?" and landing on "Iranian Mind Ninjas defeated us in the Brain Dojo" as an easy-to-digest Pop-Sci explanation.

If only Trump was a numbers and facts guy, and not suffering from what they said was mental illness.

August 12, 2027. Aneurysm. They'll mistake him for being asleep during the meeting, because he's always asleep in meetings. No one will notice, not until the end when everyone gets up to leave.

August 12, 2027.

Way too fucking late.

Agreed. But that's the true cost free healthcare and around the clock medical staff to the American people. Dude can literally live off fast food and will outlive us all.

Estimates so far is that the war has cost the US close to a trillion dollars. On top of that, Iran will be able to tap a 300 billion dollar reconstruction fund in order to rebuild.

So, to recap: American taxpayers are on the hook for a trillion dollar 3 month war, 300 billion dollars to rebuild Iran, gas prices are still outrageous, groceries are still unaffordable for many families, and Donald Trump "loves" the 4% inflation numbers reported last month.

All this because Donald Trump couldn't let JCPOA stay in place because it was negotiated by Barack Obama.

Instead we get the Iranians figuring out how to use Donald Trump's mental illnesses against him.

And the strait of Hormuz is still not open, and probably won't be before the end of the month at the earliest.

[-] MadBigote@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

And even if it is opened, Iran may as well start chargeen fees instead of tools to cross it.

"Mr President Trump has such BIG PEENIS! Young girls in Iran want to touch your BIG PEENIS, Mr President Trump!"

"Well, 300 billion you say? Reminds me of my friend Jeffrey Epstein and he used to buy girls for me. But now I can buy Iranian girls for 300 billion. Best deal ever!"

[-] TheFogan@programming.dev 6 points 2 weeks ago

Do you need one though?

I'd bet money we have something like... "OK here's the deal, You pay us 300 billion. of US taxpayer money, we pay you 5 million dollars personally in under the table money. No binding rules otherwise, but we won't draw any extra attention to it when you lie about it.

[-] Berlinblades@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Isnt a theocracy putting out the rumour they are masters of neuroscience and psychology ALSO a second massive Propaganda victory?

this is just mundane diplomacy stuff dressed up as 4d chesswhich obviously the US contingent didn't bother doing.

[-] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

And the media is hailing him as a hero. Sad.
