Hey man, 12 upvotes is a lot in my community!

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

My community has like, seven people in it so if I get twelve things are exciting.

Comments give me dopamine*

*unless they give me cortisol

Every time I see 3+ new inbox notifications I know I said something controversial. ๐Ÿ˜…

[-] brem@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

oh yeah. Some days, I pass out in a stupor & have to keep myself from checking notifications for as long as curiosity can stay away from the cat.

It's nice when you eventually check..and it turns out to be constructive feedback or support. Even with downvotes. There's an art to this.

I have learned to avoid posting to the dark souls communities when I'm in a mood.

Unless you said something VERY "controversial", and then you see nothing at all... ever again.

I think that Russia invaded Ukraine, not the other way around...

But the huge number of comments is because of just two people arguing for hours.

[-] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Then one of the commenters gets reported, and now half the comments are "Removed by Mod"

Or it could be constructive dialogue

How many times do 11 people tell you they liked something you did IRL? 12 upvotes is still a lot.

[-] PrimeMinisterKeyes@leminal.space 28 points 1 month ago
[-] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I'm so glad to not be on other social media anymore. Posting on Facebook and having no engagement from the people you actually know and care about hurt a lot more than having a comment on Lemmy get ignored.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

I have a dear friend who got pranked by someone. They set his Facebook posting options to post only at me and he didn't notice for a couple years. He just wondered why no one else commented on his posts.

We've both got slightly oversized egos relative to our accomplishments, so that must have been rough.

I wish it would be as socially easy to vocally approve or encourage someone as it is to put a like.

I strongly believe people would be surprised.

Am I the only one who read lemmy speak in a sqeaky voice in my head?

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 1 month ago

The voices in my head are entirely based on the PFP that displays next to a post/comment. If your avatar is Spongebob, everything I read from you will be in Spongebob's voice.

A succulent lemmyverse meal!

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 7 points 1 month ago

If you get 12 comments under your post on Lemmy, then you probably went on .ml and told them the Soviet Union wasn't that great.
