15 pro, upgraded from 11 pro max. Day to day just about the same. iOS hasn’t changed much over last few years. Battery life is ok but little disappointing, camera is awesome, more ram is nice as apps don’t close themselbes that often and finally screen brightness outdoors is really nice.
Apple
A place for Apple news, rumors, and discussions.
Love it. Only gripe is the random disconnects when using CarPlay when the phone just barely moves. Only cable I’ve found that won’t disconnect at the slightest movement (without buying an adaptor) is the charger cable for my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Other than that, it’s great.
12 pro to 15 pro max. Pro motion is nice, so is the bigger battery. Other than that, it’s 95% the same, literally just an iPhone. So nothing groundbreaking for me
I'm reading through and I don't see anyone (so far) mention that the phone is slightly skinnier due to the reduced bezel sizes. Which for me is a huge boon especially with the slight reduction in weight.
I upgraded from a s21 ultra and 2 reasons held me back from a iPhone for the longest time. The width and USB c. I tried the 12 a while back and just found it too heavy and wide for one handed use with avg male hands and carpel tunnel.
Which those 2 things ticked off on my list I finally made the jump and have been very happy.
I do wish apple eventually changes their stance a little bit on sideloaded apps because for power users like me having opensourced apps is a huge plus.
The experience has been great, I haven’t had a single issue since I got it which was about two weeks ago. I upgraded from a iPhone 12 Pro to an iPhone 15 pro max and I’m glad I did because weight almost feels like my iPhone 12 Pro so it doesn’t feel like a brick.
I went from an Xr to a 15 pro. I mean it’s definitely better but it’s little things rather than sweeping improvements. I appreciate the Dynamic Island more than I realized I would. I use it as a remote control for appletv all the time.
The fact that apps don’t reload when I switch back and forth is nice, especially if I’m copying and pasting.
The battery life is good but it seems to drain quicker than it should or maybe I’m being a bit unrealistic. It’s not a big deal now but 2-3 years later I bet it kinda blows.
The MagSafe charging is cool. But it’s a tad concerning how hot it gets.
The camera bump is much bigger and I need to find a case that I like that works best to protect the screen and the camera lenses.
I honestly was a bit underwhelmed considering where I came from but if I switched back I’d probably appreciate the 15 a lot more.
I feel like I’ll be the odd one out here…..but I don’t care for my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I switched to Apple because my wife wanted to leave Samsung…..and I personally have been bored with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I had a 13 Pro Max prior and prior to that I had a Galaxy S10+.
Ive had my hands on both the Z Fold4 and the Z Fold5 for a week before my wife gave me a headache about switching….and I loved those phones….they are so unique and interesting, as well as innovative, while Apple is just…..meh. It’s another iPhone.
Like I said, probably going to be the odd one out here….but I can’t wait to leave Apple for good.
Coming from the X. I jumped to 15 Pro Max.
Been a blast. I enjoy photography once again with the phone. Probably what I enjoy most from the upgrade. I’m now able to make my imaginations of a shot come true with the zoom and processing capabilities.
The screen real estate is amazing for streaming video and browsing social media. The new chip allows me to run any app without delays or crashing.
With the improved photography and display as well as fast processing capabilities, I am super happy.
I was doubting of the max screen would be too large. It’s not that much bigger from the normal screen size. I’m still able to one hand keyboard with a bit of thumb stretching. It’s lighter than I anticipated.
I will be upgrading every 3 years from now on. I used to only upgrade every 5 years. Now I know what I have missed from not upgrading!
Upgraded to 15 Pro Max from 12 Pro. Generally obsessed, mainly because of the material feel. The titanium is so soft and grips nicely in the hand. The back glass is soothing to touch. The slightly rounded edge feels so nice. Jumping to the larger screen is a joy, particularly with the moderate weight and nice balancing. It’s also my first phone with dynamic island, which is fantastic. Less convinced about the action button, tbh, but it doesn’t detract from the overall experience. On balance, huge kudos to Cupertino for continuing to raise the bar.
My phone doesn’t lag when I get up to lv 230 on Bloons tower defense 6, I’m still in love.
I’m wanting to upgrade. I have the 13 pro max but I’m really wanting a smaller phone so I’m looking at the 15 pro. Has anyone done a camera comparison? I really love taking photos and really just want a good camera overall.
Battery is shit besides that great phone
15 Pro Max here. The battery life I get 10-11 hours screen on time. I would have hated myself if I missed out on this years iPhone. The camera is excellent as well
15 pro max - flawless.
New 15 Pro user coming from an 11. I wasn't planning on upgrading when the 15s first came out, but my 11s battery was really starting to drain out and along with a couple other minor issues as well as being in a good financial spot, i decided to upgrade to the 15 Pro. Wow, i definitely feel the upgrade!
For me, there's numerous things I like better. First off, this is my first Pro model of an iPhone so having the Pro-Motion/120hz refresh rate is sooo smooth and looks great. Then for the rest of the upgrades since my 11, I finally have 5G, MagSafe is awesome and i've bought a couple accessories to utilize that, the cameras are a massive improvement! Dynamic Island is a fun feature that makes going back to your previously used or currently using app a breeze. The cinematic mode and being able to shoot LOG profile is awesome! As a professional video production worker, having that ability on me at all times incase i need it is great. The emergency SOS thing is a nice safety feature to have just incase as well. I went for the Pro instead of the Pro Max to actually have a slightly smaller phone than my 11 so I can comfortably use it with one hand again since I have smaller hands. And of course, one of the biggest reasons I wanted to upgrade is that the 15s finally have a USB-C port instead of lightning. It's so convenient to have all my tech finally using the same cord for charging/data transfers.
The only negative I experienced was that when I first got my 15 Pro, it was really hot to hold in my hand. But after I set everything up on it, went through a full battery cycle, and got a case, i havent felt any heating issues since. My battery life has been really solid as well. I don't use my phone too much so after my first use/charge cycle, i used about 35% of my battery in one day. So as of now, i see myself needing to charge my phone once every couple of days instead of nearly twice a day that I was doing with my 11. Overall, I'm super happy I upgraded and am hoping this phone will last at least 4 years like my 11 did! My 11 was a great iPhone, but it was simply time to upgrade.
First time apple user, the phone is massively overrated and does little more than its competitors. The only reason I like iPhone is because of the Apple Watch, other than that, the user experience is a downgrade. I get the feeling apple designs everything as if the user is stupid or ignorant of technology.
I had androids my whole life, my last phone was a nord 2 one plus. The experience was awl full. I was anti apple products because they are expensive but I gave it a try. Bought my iPhone 15 pro last week and so far I don’t regret anything. Everything works great and had no problems so far! Really happy with it
All good. Couldn’t be better 15pm
I preordered the first day we could but got my phone a couple weeks after launch.
I’ve had zero issues. I recently started using the charging limit to stop at 80% because this thing’s battery is insane. Yesterday was the lowest it’s gotten and it was 26%.
120 Hz refresh rate is far more noticeable than I thought it was. I’d argued in the past that it’s so unnecessary, but goddamn was I wrong.
From 12 to 15 PM. Best buy of my life. A day and night difference!
Did anyone mention 15PM speakers? I was blown away coming from 11 pro. Sadly, wild rift can’t keep 60fps stable with best chip in an Iphone…
I’ve had the 15 Pro since launch.
To address the various concerns I’m still seeing floating around:
- Battery Life - I’ve found the battery life to be markedly better than the 14 Pro from which I upgraded. Not just towards the end of my year owning it, but better all around. I rarely get a full day’s use out of it, but then I’ve never gotten a full day’s use out of any iPhone. But, no, I’ve no concerns with the battery at all.
- Overheating - I was lucky that I never had an overheating problem with the 15 Pro at all. BUT once iOS 17.0.3 came out, the iPhone became noticeably cool other than when I’d expect it to be warm/hot: charging wirelessly and in the hours immediately after a software update. Other than that, the phone’s cool all the time.
As for the other things people ask about…?
-
The Screen Burn that some experienced? Haven’t had it at all.
-
Frame - hasn’t lost any colour at all (I have the black and it’s still black all around) and doesn’t feel any less sturdy than previous phones, while being much less weighty.
-
Breaks easily - I use a case outside but go caseless at home. It’s slipped out of my hand a couple of times at home, falling onto the carpet; never been an issue.
So, yeah, I’m sure there are people who’ve been less fortunate or who have had less good experiences with any/all of the above… but for me? the 15 Pro is by far the best iPhone I’ve had, and the most enjoyable experience using a phone since the XR.
Small caveat: I’ve had some minor issues with iOS 17… and continue to have some. But the phone itself? Not a one.
I upgraded from an iPhone 12 to a 15pro. I buy my iPhones direct from Apple UK. The first 15pro I received didn’t accept any payment methods (cards) because the NFC chip was faulty. Apple replaced it with a new phone that I received within 48 hours of reporting the fault. The second 15pro wouldn’t send or receive messages, texts, or make calls; the modem chip was defective. Apple replaced it again within 48 hours, with much apologies. Unfortunately I had already swapped out my physical SIM for an eSIM, so it was a bit of a challenge to get the third replacement phone working (my physical SIM had been disabled, and the QR card I had was tied to my previous faulty phone). EE were very good, and got everything working within half an hour: since then the phone has been behaving just fine. Whilst I accept that I have been unlucky with the iPhone 15pro, it’s still a good phone, especially with the LiDAR capabilities (which is why I upgraded in the first place). Apple needs to take care of two things: firstly their QA processes need strengthening, both faults were hardware and should have been picked up during the manufacturing process; secondly, their delivery company in the UK is useless, each replacement phone had to be collected from the depot because the delivery driver couldn’t be bothered to go through our security (I live in a secure gated domain, that entails the driver to engage brain to penetrate).
Here’s my experience — I hope it helps your decision:
Pros:
- In my opinion, the 15 Pro Max is much more comfortable to hold than the 14 Pro Max
- USB C is a logical choice and I don’t know why it took so long
- The battery life is great, and the software is smooth and nice
Cons:
- I noticed minor image retention of the keyboard AFTER using my phone on a MagSafe wireless charger and connecting a mouse and keyboard for a full working day.
It went away after a couple of days, but I’m still monitoring it to see if I can get a replacement or not. I’ve discovered that this is a common problem when the phone gets hot, which might have happened when my phone was charging and the screen was bright.
FYI: I’m on iOS 17 beta
Iphone 15 pro max here. I tried resident village and after about 5 mins had to put my phone in freezer cz I got scared that it might get damaged. Anyone else tried this game?
Iphone 15 pm here, awesome.
Mind you i upgraded from iphone 7 to 15 pm.
15PM, everything is great, I'd say I'm an above average user when speaking of usage and I only go through 40-60% battery a day. Everything is flawless so far.
15 Pro Max here. Not overheated once, even when using 5g and doing other high intensity tasks. for example did a benchmark last night and it got warm but not hot, definitely much better than my 12 pro max was.
Battery is amazing, but i'm using 80% max and keeping it plugged in all the time to try and keep the cycle count as low as possible and keep the battery working as best as possible for when i do need it.
15 Pro Max (from 11 Pro)
Had it about a month and it’s going great. Having fun playing with the camera and taking advantage of the MagSafe ecosystem. I’ve also found I like Dynamic Island for presentation of system notices. If it could only fade away for fullscreen media and games, it would be perfect. It probably will, when they inevitably go to under-screen Face ID. I could see it just materializing from the edges when needed and fading away otherwise.
I almost have enough battery life to just leave it on 80% Limit for charging. If they reissue MagSafe Battery Packs with USBC, I’ll be doing that and just using the pack on the long days.
ProMotion/120 Hz is just great. Thought I didn’t notice at first… until put it back in low power mode the first time and then I couldn’t unsee the difference when scrolling and such.
great. no issues so far except 2 complaints.
- random OS freezing/locking up when using apple maps. Happened about 3 times since launch.
- live image processing when taking photo/video
It’s great 15pm. Better than my 12pm experience at launch.
I got my 15 pro on the release date and I have had no problems with overheating. I carry both a 15 pro and a 14 pro. The 15 pro’s battery lasts a lot longer than the 14 pro.
The battery on the 15pm is not that great. But the rest is amazing. Upgraded from 12Pm
Best phone I've ever had
Took this tonight. I am impressed by the camera !
I’ve had the iPhone 15 pro for 4 weeks and I have 3 things to say, battery life isn’t amazing it’s just really good (you’ll understand the difference if u use it) and the only 2 issues are Dynamic Island started doing the phone Face ID in landscape mode but I restarted the phone and it’s never happened again. And the other thing is keyboard sometimes disappearing when searching for an app in this menu
U can still type but all from muscle memory since you can’t see the letters. So only one small issue
15PM : camera is amazing, I really enjoy taking pictures with the x5 zoom when I travel. Battery is good but depends on your usage. Some days it last for 8-10h but some days 4-6 if you take a lot of videos, playing games etc. Pretty amazing overall
15 pro max here - the good parts: Amazing battery Amazing camera Action button(I never believed it to be a useful thing but I have configured it with shortcuts and is amazing) Automation The bad: Apple BS restricting even simple thing like notification tone change(new one for insta and all sound like a call getting disconnected) but it’s an ios issue and will be changed soon I hope.
Also to everyone, I would request to listen to “Sunroof song” at max volume and notice, the speaker rattles and sounds weird. Maybe cover your bottom speaker and have a good listen to test it. A lot of users have reported it and I am facing it too.
15 pmax is Big upgrade from my 11 pro. Love it. Great speakers vs 11pmax. Love the cam, the smart pill, the look, the 120hz screen. Magnetic docking. 5g. All minor upgrades for 12/13/14 but in total a big upgrade for me.
got the 15 pro max and I feel a mild tingling sensation on the side frames while charging. Does this damage the device in the long term?
from XS to 15PM
it's really night and day difference between the 2. the only reason why I upgraded is USB-C.
from camera to playing games, 15PM is great. I never experienced thermal issues.
sometimes some apps lag, i think it's software problem.
15 Pro Max user for 22 days so far. Upgraded from base 128 GB 12 Pro Max to 512 GB. No issues with battery or overheating so far. Love that I can charge to 80% and have my battery last for more than a day with moderate-average use.
Gave away my 14 pro max to my wife
A legacy MAX phone user - wanted to try something different and one handed use since iPhone X
Got the
15 PRO - so far two days with it.
Thought it would be an extremely similar experience as 14 pro max.
The damn thing is super responsive.
NGL I feel a difference.
Speed when changing apps.
Camera
Internet speed on 5G
WiFi
Very zippy. It downloaded 17.1.1 (unfortunately)
But this thing is super nice.
Battery so far is comparable to my 14 pro max. But then again. I don’t spend my day watching videos on my phone.
I’m very happy with the switch from a MAX to a smaller pro.
Charges fast w a 18w usb type c from Apple.
I wasn’t trully happy w my 14pro Max as I was w my 13 pro Max. The 14 pro Max actually felt less responsive than the 13 pro max. Now im back to that level of happiness w my phone as I was w the 13 pro max. Zero regrets w my 15 pro
Black on black.
