So I keep randomly getting this message on my series 7 AW, I’m currently using a material band with no magnetic catch or anything, so a bit confused as to watch could be causing it?

I got that for the first time ever two days ago.

You opened the compass app. Simple as that.

I opened the app and got the message. Then killed the app, reopened it and didn't. Both times with a very magnetic Milanese loop. The compass tends to point north towards the top of the watch on account of the band.

Got the same warning while driving and using maps yesterday.

I’ve heard some have higher magnetism in themselves or something like that. I just remember I had teach who said her wrist watch got messed up like that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I get it too. Just a standard warning and don’t think anything you did/use triggered it.

Got the same thing while driving for the first time ever the other day and I’m wearing an Ocean Band so not much metal on it. Guessing it’s a bug in the latest OS.

Your magnetic personality?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The lugs on your band may be magnetic

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I got it today wearing the sport loop, so it’s just random I think.

I got the same message every time I start driving. I was wearing AW Ultra 2 with band I randomly picked from my band storage every day.

This happens when I start the maps app via CarPlay.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yea I have the s5 and I’ve never seen that warning until os10

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I got it as a passenger in my bf’s truck the other day. Not sure why though

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It’s just a reminder in case you wear something like the Milanese

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Just got that tonight while using Apple Maps.

Long shot question - but have you had any medical imaging with contrast lately? Like a CaT scan or other nuclear imaging? Maybe a long exposure chest/lung xray?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Scroll and press okay. That’ll get rid of it. Had the same problem.

I just started seeing this a week ago for the first time. It’s happening every time I use maps on my phone. It keeps popping up randomly throughout my trip.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I've got it maybe 5 times since latest update. If I remember correctly, I get it after wearing the watch or sometimes by shaking the watch after washing it. Series 9 sport loop. Could be a bug.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I feel like this happens every time I get in the car, looks like yours too maybe

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You’re Magneto!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The giant steel container you’re inside of, more than likely.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I opened the compass app up, for the first time ever I guess, and got the same.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Probably the metal in the strap that holds it to the watch, doesn’t have to be a magnetic strap just the type of metal. Maybe try a silicone one and see.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I got this while driving the other day. No idea why, I don’t use the compass app

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Even non magnetic metal can cause interference for the watch. Big ships for example, also have a magnetic compass, but due to the vast size of the ship (metal) it will cause interference for the compass.

Probably you beeing in a car causes interference I think.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I realised that it was my magnetic band that was doing it !

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Are you vaccinated? Maybe it’s the vaccine?

(Antivaxxers were saying that the COViD vaccine gave them magnetic abilities or something stupid like that. )

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Same happens to me with S8

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You’re in the car. It probably displays when magnitude of magnetic field vector changes (such as when near steel objects)

I also had that message entirely randomly the other day on My AW Ultra. Mine is paired with a 15 Pro Max

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

May I ask what is your watch band?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It’s just a normal warning, because compass follows electromagnetism. Nothing else.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I started getting this when I got my new 15, especially once I used the MagSafe charger, case, and wallet. I think it’s proximity to the case even though the warning specifies to watch bands.

Lmao I love having rent free property in your feeble little bitch mind

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I am getting this warning but only when I am in my car and using Apple Maps via CarPlay to navigate somewhere. I do have a metal watch band but there shouldn’t be anything magnetic in it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It’s recommended that androids don’t wear watches as it’s already programmed in their nano chips:)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe the magnets the guberment put in our precious bodily fluids with the vaccine shots?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

2-year old Series 7 here. I got that message just once, and it was while I was driving. I was not interacting with my watch at all, and although I do use maps for navigation, I never use the compass app. So idk.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It happened to me when I was in a multi-level parking garage. I assumed it was interference from the structure.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’ve been getting this on my Ultra 2. The last update hasn’t fixed it. I don’t use the compass app intentionally. It happens when I use Maps in CarPlay.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I thought this is just an info message when using maps the first time after the update.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’ve just started getting this, too, ever since watchOS 10.1. I get it nearly every day on my way to work. I’m using the same sport loop band, driving the same route and using the same watch. I did upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro, but it didn’t happen until 17.1 and 10.1 came out. Now it is daily. This not a genuine warning, it is some kind of bug.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Your car. My compass is not right on my Ultra in the truck

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Well, isn’t because the titanium on your alpine loop?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

This has been happening on my Series 5, just out the blue when in the car. Love the pay attention to your surroundings, while the watch is sending notifications while driving..
