I'm convinced that the church has always seen the molestation of boys as a recruitment strategy. Most go on with their lives after being abused, but some probably learn to like it, and they stay in the church, and then do it themselves. This has probably been a pattern for literally centuries, and is responsible for a significant number of recruits.
Celibacy has never been a strong draw, any other strategy that brings in recruits can't be easily dismissed.
In reality, I believe there are much greater, more important issues, such as justice, equality

There are plenty of LBG Christians. I will try to give you the 1 paragraph answer from a protestant.
All humans are sinners so religion "activity demonized" all of humanity. But luckily, all sins are forgiven through Jesus Christ. So whilst they may be living in sin, so is everyone and we are all forgiven equally.

Because they were raised Catholic and they want their church to stop demonizing them. Blessing them would be a start. People are taught religion from a young age, perhaps younger than they have any kind of sexual identity. Therefore their whole concept of “them” may be as much Catholic as it is gay.
