Anyone else running tvOS 17.2 beta and seeing this issue? If I turn off Siri, pressing the Siri button at all brings up the search. Seems dictation is just not working in 17.2 beta. Have since turned off beta updates so that I just get the stable release, but would like to see if anyone has found a solution before I talk to Apple support.

I was having a problem where dictation wasn't working in the search field alphabet, it would just bring up the full Siri search. Instead of holding the Siri button when a letter is highlighted like you used to, just press and release. That seems to have fixed my issue.

Yes I’m having the exact same issue. I’d forgotten I was on the beta actually, but yes another 17.2 with broken dictation here.

It’s like this on all models now. Dictation is literally missing from both of mine, and only activates Siri. Totally axes one of the biggest Apple TV advantages. If it’s a bug Tim needs to fire some people because obviously they are not even testing these builds at all before just releasing them.

It’s not a bug, just an unnecessary change and total laziness on the part of the TVOS team at Apple. They changed it to press and release for dictation, hold for Siri while not bothering to change the instructions to “press and release” from “hold to dictate search”.

According to Apple Feedback, it's working as intended. Sent a follow-up from other apps (Hulu and Max) 😅

It seems that the functionality switched from “hold” to “press”, but the prompt still says hold. https://www.reddit.com/r/appletv/s/1HR3ybxXQA

OMG. I was having this issue for weeks since upgrading my brand new Apple TV (3rd gen) that i bought a few weeks ago. Apparently i also just been “holding” the mic button as muscle memory instead of just pressing it. They need to update the instructions on these apps

I am having this issue too and unfortunately the 3rd developer beta did not resolve it. It’s very frustrating.
