Literally any intel MacBook will be in your price range. even the 16 pro base model is about 6-700.

If you need Windows support, yes since they're the only ones with Bootcamp, and the MacBook Pros(15/16 at least) still have bigger screens than the Air if you want that.
You can run windows on an M1 with VMWare Fusion, works a treat ๐
That's true, nowhere close to what Bootcamp offered before though.
Avoid if you can, they run more hot as well
