As a 30+ year Slackware user, I'm unimpressed.

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 50 points 2 weeks ago

"No I meant does anyone want to say a kind word?"

"You should use Linux too."

[-] 1995ToyotaCorolla@lemmy.world 43 points 2 weeks ago

exasperated "Does anyone want to say a word about the recently deceased?"

"It's a shame he didn't get to try Linux"

[-] Pman@lemmy.org 17 points 2 weeks ago

exhausted sigh "does anyone have anything to say that isn't about Linux?"

"Microslop windows is trash, a waste of resources, poorly optimized, and spies on you."

[-] DmMacniel@feddit.org 39 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah I would like to say a word.

Plethora.

[-] ceenote@lemmy.world 52 points 2 weeks ago

Which is operated by the winch wench. Who runs on Linux.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 weeks ago

Which wench operates which winch when the winch wench witch's winch wrench won't fix the rent worm winch?

[-] Engywuck@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 weeks ago

"I use Arch, btw", you mean.

"Im sorry for your loss. Move on."

[-] one_old_coder@piefed.social 11 points 2 weeks ago

You should compress it way more, we still can see the pixels.

[-] Sonotsugipaa@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

Interestingly, after 50 iterations of magick img.webp -quality 1 img.webp, "I use Linux" is just as readable as before

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

"That's completely inappropriate! Which distro, asshole!?"

[-] binarytobis@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

I just realized Iโ€™ve become that guy six months into switching from Windows. I want to save even one person, but Iโ€™m probably just annoying people atm.

[-] nixigaj@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

My approach with introducing friends to Linux on their laptops is to tell them to buy a new SSD double the size of the current one. Then i mirror their windows install and recovery and EFI to the beginning of the new SSD and then install Linux to the second half making sure that Linux get its own EFI partition and does not use Windows so that the TPM setups does not interfere with each other. Then they dont need to change anything on their Windows install, and they can also teporarily bail to Windows when something breaks/doesnt work and ask me later how to fix it.

[-] UnimportantHuman@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

Me at my job that uses windows. Everyone's convinced Linux is some impossible learning curve. They should know if I can get over that curve then most people can lol I'm not the brightest
