I love sidescrolling beat'em ups like Streets of Rage and Final Fight. I feel that very often new games in the genre are hard to discover, unless they have a big license like Marvel attached to them. Do you know of any good new games in the genre that came out this year? Indietitles and hidden gems are always appreciated.

Check out Absolum on Steam. Game of the year for me :)

    I don't know of any that came out this year (exception being cosmic invasion, which I'm sure you're aware of).

    The last few that I played were River City Girls, Scott Pilgrim, Streets of rage 4, and mother Russia bleeds.

    Oh, and Shredder's revenge, of course 😁

    Know and played and loved all of those, but good thing you've listed them here. Never really finished Mother Russia Bleeds, so that might be worth another go. Thanks for reminding me.

    Ironically Marvel Cosmic Invasion came out December 1st and it's a very solid sidescrolling beat em up
