Why do you always seem to find yourself in an Alliance friendly bar on Unification Day?

Writers strike decimated the show for sure. The scab writers wrecked the whole arc. 😅

Oh well. At least we got Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog from the strike.

If anyone is looking to become obsessed with a niche television show that went off the air years ago about a character that is obsessed with a niche television show that went off the air years ago I cannot even begin to recommend Bojack Horseman enough.

Back in the nineties I was in a ver-y fa-mous teeee-vee show.

[-] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

Bojack the horse

Bojack the horse don't act like you don't know

You forgot the part where if you also want to watch an animated show that is hilarious but will also make you ugly cry this is your show

And for me right now that show is Farscape. I don't know if you can call it niche, but it certainly is not very well known where I live. And this show is frelling good. I love it! I love the story, I love the actors, I love all the costumes and puppets, the sets, the effects. It is better than most of the dren studios nowadays produce

[-] Cordyceps@sopuli.xyz 7 points 2 months ago

Came here to mention Farscape! Best space opera ever made. Just ordered the bluray set. My first watch was about 15 years ago on a crappy laptop screen. I've heard the sound quality is improved drastically, even if the image quality not so much, it being an upscale rather than native 1080p

Don't worry. Amazon will pick it up, ruin the new season, and cancel it again.

Rewatching M.A.S.H. right now.

Edit: Wasn't exactly niche back in the day, but I wonder how many people have watched it recently.

[-] circuitfarmer@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (the last episode) holds up well as some of the best TV ever made. They really ended on a high note unlike so many more modern series.

In a parallel universe, Firefly has seven seasons with the exact same writing quality as the first. But in the said same universe, Starsector wouldn't exist. There's always a price to pay.

[-] Stonewyvvern@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Constantine starring Matt Ryan (2014-2015). TV show, one season cliffhanger. Pissed me off when they Firefly'ed it.

[-] Grabthar@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Can I do three? Reaper, Dark Matter (2015) and The Lost Room.

Lemme do two shows:

Kings just had a premise too esoteric for this world. It was like a retelling of the story of king David set in modern times in a constructed world that's like ours though the Bible doesn't exist within that world. There's all sorts of remixed biblical strangeness in it.

Jericho was like if one of those "mystery box" shows actually had a thought out plot that moved forward. Nuclear explosions go off around the country, not-Blackwater PMC guys work for not-Dick Cheney, and the main characters just keep getting sucked in to a ramp up for a post apocalyptic civil war.

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Jericho actually got better in the second season which I found surprising. But I haven't seen kings, I'll check it out.

Dead like me. Main actor just stopped working as an actor. Shame, seemed like she could have been good in other roles.

Ive been watching the brazilian version of The Office. Its pretty good. Very short though. Its called "Os Aspones", and takes place in a forgotten governemntal department.

[-] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 6 points 2 months ago

I’ll take this opportunity to push Patriot. The marketing on Amazon made it look like a standard propaganda show “good spy does bad things for good reasons” but it’s actually a black comedy that is beautifully critical of US intelligence and foreign covert action.
