Begging for money. I work 40 hours a week. Cheapest rent out of anyone I know. 5x5 cell of an apartment. I get paid weekly. I get $100 in food stamps a month.

Somehow, still -30USD in the hole and still hungry. Having 1/3 of my monthly paycheck go towards simply existing is fucking nuts, especially when we're expected to pay for laundry, electric, gas (both domestic and vehicular), internet, phone bill, health insurance, car insurance, union dues, loan repayment, hospital and doctor bills, what THE FUCK!!!

I'm amazed anyone survives this shithole. I have respect for anyone who makes it here without trampling everyone around them underfoot.

They won't, though. We won't. We're the ones who "fall through the cracks". The MILLIONS.

Remember to always tip your landlord! They are doing a service to ~~the community~~ the entire world by sitting on their ass and on occasions spending your money on shitty low budget repairs.

That's actually a thing where I am. There is a fee (usually one month rent) tacked on when you sign a new lease/renew your lease that is basically thank-you money to the landlord for letting you stay there. Yet we don't tip anywhere else. In addition to the security deposit (that virtually nobody gets back), agency fee., and first month rent. It isn't uncommon to pay 5 months rent upfront when you move.

I hate it and usually only rent places when I can negotiate that particular fee away. Which you can, because it isn't legally required anywhere.

Yup. That's not even counting the landlords who refused to rent to me because I am a foreigner. Even if I have permanent residency. Despite the discrimination being illegal technically, it happens so much that the government is trying to politely ask them to actually rent to foreigner. They usually give some BS reason like being worried about communicating with the tenant, but will think up another excuse if it turns out you speak fluent Japanese.

Is it a phobia if it's a legitimately measured response to actual danger? mao-aggro-shining

Ackchyually the preferred nomenclature is housing provider. Berkeley Property Owners Association: Why We're "Housing Providers":

We politely decline the label "landlord" with its pejorative connotations.

Right, landleech it is then.

[โ€“] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

I didn't think landlords could do much to make me think less of them, but introducing themselves as a "housing provider" would manage it.

Hardworking landlord breaking his back every day down at the cashing checks and owning other people's homes factory.
