FUCKING RACE????
Time to call Northrop Grumman workers crackers. They can't stop me.
Tracking the amount of antacids and other digestion-themed medicines delivered to stores around Raytheon Acres in order to track your effectiveness.
Even the stalwart allies at LinkedIn?

All of this started because credulous libs took far right propaganda at face value, and decided that catering to a non-existent dominant demographic of woke college kids was the best business strategy. Now they realize they never had to do all of that. Even worse, they probably feel that overestimating the liberal or leftist tendency of society cost them missed opportunity. Meaning they regret not backing the far right the whole time. They'll never make that mistake again.
They brushed all the rainbow-themed cobwebs off their capitalism.
The boys are back

If you ever find yourself questioning your beliefs, remind yourself that they all hate you solely because they think it’s funny.
Make the switch from Microsoft before the Windows 10 EOL.
My experience with Linux has been annoying, time consuming, and me having to google and code (enter shit in the terminal) to simply download a program. Am I wrong or just stupid, because everyone on this website talks about Linux OSs as the second coming of Christ
by its very nature there will always be more friction doing almost anything in Linux compared to windows or mac os. you’re not wrong or stupid.
it’s not the second coming of christ just a different philosophy of using the computer. i do think that actually knowing how a computer works instead of the hyper convenience of modern OSes is valuable. Hell, using windows by default makes most advanced-nerd-stuff slightly more difficult. With windows and mac (i don’t notice it as much on mac tbh) you also have to work backwards to de-bloat the systems which is wrong.
here’s my searing take that would fix this: communism. Under my regime a tech company would make the one operating system and it would be all the best parts of dedicated support and convenience found in closed source OSes while not doing all the bloat stuff. yes it would be open source but it would be so good you’d never experience what you did
Yeah I guess I've always stuck at the basic nerd level because that's all I've needed. Using windows for decades, I know the file and drive system inside and out (compared to mac), and I've never needed to go beyond that, so disabling cortana or whatever has never been that big an issue. Obviously W11 looks like hell for ads and apps and bullshit, but I still don't know if I'm brave enough to fully shift over. Distro recs?
The Mint distro is basically Windows. Super easy to use in my experience.
Edit: but I like using the terminal..
i use mac lol. years ago ubuntu was the easiest to set up for me. Anytime I'm using linux it's actually exclusively in a terminal for deployment related stuff or personal projects where I set up remote servers etc. I think anyone being able to turn on computers and use them without knowing is a miracle I just wish that tech ghouls didn't own them. Not everyone needs or wants to know how to code. So my recommendation is whichever one suits your needs. pick the distro with proven least-friction
What distro are you using btw? Even one of the more tame ones like mint will have a learning curve but trust me, it's well worth it.
I think I tried mint or ubuntu before my old laptop bricked
They both have an app store which is basically point and click unless you are doing something more advanced
Probably got the distro wrong, it was a while ago
news
Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:
-
To learn about and discuss meaningful news, analysis and perspectives from around the world, with a focus on news outside the Anglosphere and beyond what is normally seen in corporate media (e.g. anti-imperialist, anti-Zionist, Marxist, Indigenous, LGBTQ, people of colour).
-
To encourage community members to contribute commentary and for others to thoughtfully engage with this material.
-
To support healthy and good faith discussion as comrades, sharpening our analytical skills and helping one another better understand geopolitics.
We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.
Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:
The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.
-
Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.
-
Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.
-
Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.
-
Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.
-
Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.
-
Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.
-
American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.
-
Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.
-
AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
