Gemini AI needs to be disabled on Android or it will override your privacy settings and gain full access to your texts, calls, and WhatsApp - even if you’ve turned off Gemini Apps Activity. But what does this Android update really mean, and how can you stop it? Check out

always happy when its not only GrapheneOS being mentioned, its good yes but only compatible with Google Pixel. i couldnt find MuerenaOS, do you mean Murena? its a libre smartphone with /e/OS

for reference in case anyone not using one of them interested in looking if any is compatible with your device:

GrapheneOS

CalyxOS

postmarketOS

LineageOS

iodéOS

UBTouch(Ubuntu Touch)

Yes, I meant /e/OS, I didnt realize they didnt change the OS name lol. Thanks for the links too!

And yeah, its a bit odd that people have clung to Graphene as the be-all-end-all when all of them have strengths and weaknesses.

Steps to disable Gemini app connections:

Open the Gemini app from your Android > device

Click on your profile in the top right corner Open Apps Click to toggle off each app extension

Wait...what Gemini profile...I literally don't have one, I open this dogshit and it asks me to change to Gemini. Guess I'm immune since I never plan on activating that dogshit

IIRC, these settings are created by installing the Gemini app - if you haven't elected to download it that's why you don't see the settings.

Who knows when that app will mysteriously appear though.

Just another thing to uninstall through ADB terminal. Never buying Samsung again..can't root this garbage sadly

I'm still using my pixel 7 pro, and hoping it's deemed "too old" for this Gemini bullshit.

Samsung sucks for this. I'm over it.

It'd be nice if any of the articles about Google Gemini would mention that none of this applies to the EU instead of needlessly spreading FUD.

Laws only apply if you get caught.

Look, Gemini isn't even rolled out in the EU. That makes quite a difference. Even if your wild west idea of the law would match the real world that still would make a lot of difference. Nevertheless none of the articles I've read about Gemini and it's data access privileges didn't even mention the simle fact that is doesn't apply worldwide. So wipe that grin off your face, sonny and better keep your mouth shut from now. Cause you might be shootin' fast, but not straight enough to hit a barn from five foot distance.
