6 kilowatts and 280 Nm of torque is definitely overkill for a pedal-assist bicycle.

And for whoever they crash into as well... While I do think power limits for eBikes are a bit too low here in Europe, I gotta say I'm glad we don't have death machines like that thing rolling around on our trails.

It'd be nice to have a robust system of e-bike classes that's commonly accepted everywhere without being underpowered and license/training required for stuff that gets into motorcycle territory. In the US, they just classify them as "offroad vehicles" but in some places lots of people ride them on footpaths, which gets all e-bike riders in trouble with the public.

Surely that torque is inaccurate? That's over twice the amount of torque that a 2024 1.1L Africa Twin puts down. I don't know how you would even control that on something as light as an e-bike.

Peak torque, measured somewhere. For an electric motor that's usually hold or near zero rpm torque. A computer does the controlling.

But, yeah. Crazy number.

Possibly but electric motors can put out a stupid amount of torque so maybe not...

I like it, but more as a light electric motorbike than as a bicycle.

"Transportation using lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, especially electric ones that may be borrowed as part of a self-service rental program in which people rent vehicles for short-term use within a town or city.

micromobility is seen as a potential solution to moving people more efficiently around cities"

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.
