The Netherlands continues to be my top choice for a place to live if I end up fleeing my country. If they'll have me.

It's expensive. Don't forget to buy the floor for your apartment.

Edit: I'm serious about the floor. Apartments don't come with flooring included.

Surprised me though, although temu probably would've surprised me more

[-] absquatulate@lemmy.world 79 points 1 year ago

Loving Bulgaria. Everybody's doing social networks, meanwhile they're "ooh, a puzzle game!"

[-] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 36 points 1 year ago

Temu is more like a capitalism network than a social network, but yeah Chad Bulgaria playing tetris instead of giving into consumerism.

So the source page just doesn't exist. But https://mapsinterlude.wordpress.com/ does. When you visit it, this post is easily found, but do they list any of their sources? No. I checked a few sites that list top apps by country and just checked Denmark, because that's where I'm from and temu was #8.

Serbia has an itchy delete finger, apparently.

[-] abfarid@startrek.website 5 points 1 year ago

Yeah, what's up with Latvia? Why would people mass-download a grocery store app? Besides, iki is better. At least it was 10 years ago. Do they still have iki?

Only Netherland and Bulgaria can be proud of themselves.

[-] huppakee@lemm.ee 28 points 1 year ago

Nobody can be as proud of themselves (because of this list I mean) as Lithuania: "LT72 is a website intended to prepare Lithuanian residents for emergencies. It allows residents to learn how to be be prepared for an accident, ..."

This can't be correct. No way people use Signal more than Whatsapp in NL. And Temu, this app Google Play tries to spam you with? Why?

[-] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 31 points 1 year ago

It is the most downloaded app in 2024

I think most Dutchies already had Whatsapp installed prior to 2024.

Is Temu really that much cheaper compared to Aliexpress to be "worth it"?

[-] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

I’m like “Wildberries and Tetris?” and that’s just tangential to wtf Temu.

Look at us go wheeee.

[-] NotProLemmy@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago

99% of people who use Temu are dumb. They don't stop to ask "everything is so cheap, but why?". Because they get blinded by convenience. And i HATE those people.

[-] Sir_Simon_Spamalot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Brainrot generation, here we come!

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

pretty sure this is bullshit. have seen some other maps on there too. unconvincing stats with no sources.

[-] SealofLove@leminal.space 6 points 11 months ago

This is a Temu ad

[-] bstix@feddit.dk 6 points 11 months ago

Probably true. TEMU is personally also my most downloaded app. I've downloaded TEMU 3 time this year. Never opened it. Always uninstalled it immediately.

It installs automatically on some Samsung phones. I think it's after system updates. The Samsung store will pop up and recommend some apps. It then installs TEMU regardless of what you choose.
