Hi Boost gang,

The first version of Boost for Lemmy is almost ready. If you want to test the app for bugs and give feedback before the app is published, follow this link https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.rubenmayayo.lemmy to enable an early access option on the Boost for Lemmy Play Store listing.

Thanks for your patience!

Just got it installed and set up! Looks great!

If I had one complaint it would be that mod tools are missing. :( Or if they are there, I can't find them. :)

Loving it so far! I'm glad Boost is back! I have one problem, though! I'd love to pay to remove the ads but when I press Remove Ads I get a screen with a blue background and "Remove Ads" right in the middle of the screen but there doesn't seem to be a way to actually pay to have the ads removed!

Other than that, it works really well. Feels very responsive, too!

This look great! Was struggling with Jerboa for the last few days. I gave up and got into Tildes instead!!

This feels familiar!! ๐Ÿ‘ Awesome

Images are able to be posted in comments. Ability to press and make them bigger would be useful.

Understood would be difficult with the press to collapse feature.

When adding images to my profile (both my profile pic and my banner image), they get rotated 90โฐ counter-clockwise.

This has been a very good idea!

Not sure if it's Boost or YouTube Revanced at fault but got the following error when I tried to open a Lemmy link to a video: https://postimg.cc/q6sW77x0

Also, the sign-up journey is a bit confused. Clicking sign up takes me to joinlemmy, which then just lands me on a home page for whichever instance I click. Might be more user friendly to prompt for a choice of instance and take them directly to that instance's sign up page. And maybe have a button for "not sure? Explore here" or something similar that would take you to joinlemmy

Being taken to the instance that just selected makes pretty firm logical sense to me, personally. Is the sign up process/path uniform across all instances?

The few I checked were, but not sure if the path is defined as part of the Lemmy protocol.

I don't know if it has been posted. After try many lemmy client its end to sync and boost.

But compared both apps there is one difference that I feel, scrolling performance is better on sync. On boost feel little bit lag/stutter.

Else just customization like other comments mentioned.

I hope it will be fixed in next build.

Thanks for build great apps. ๐Ÿ‘

Bug/Issue Report:

Been noticing a couple minor things over the past couple days.

  • When clicking the tray notification for messages, it sends me to the mentions part of my inbox not the unread part.

  • Refreshing a profile, or inbox, is inconsistent. Often I need to pull down multiple times for it to update and even then sometimes the update is still older than what's current, requiring more pulls. For a profile this can mean not showing current posts or posts with incorrect comment/score. For inbox this means disappearing messages or not knowing you've got a new one.

  • Speaking of inbox, if I mark a message as read it'll stop any notifications or badge counting. However the message will still occasionally "light up" like it's unread. Doesn't reactivate any notifications, and the app seems to know it's not really new, but it does happen.

Feedback:

  • I'm guessing this will be added later, but at the moment you can't edit titles of posts with the app. If I click edit it just says mark nsfw or delete.

Otherwise I love the app like I loved old boost. The only other thing would be themes but that isn't even remotely important this early in development.

I'm excited to switch over and will definitely report any wonkiness.

Should old boost users who have paid for boost for reddit, get the premium by default??

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

No and I say this as someone who had premium.

They're two different apps. This isn't as easy as copy and pasting all the code. There's a reason it took a couple months to release this app. All that new work.

What you're asking for would be like saying to Toyota you deserve their new model for free because you bought the 2016 version.

+1 This shouldn't even be something people need to ask.

But I'm assuming that this is the first version so maybe the dev will make it happen in an upcoming update
