We need to get back to pet-shaming more. It's funny, and they don't understand, nor do they have the faculties to have their feelings hurt by it.

We're going to need a bigger box.

Where's my seat? Dammit

Not only that but more often than not, the pet has the face of "What you gonna do about it?" which makes it even funnier.

So, you’re telling me the cat was napping? The things they’re famous for?

Jk, I still like it.

[-] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago

My cats would be yelling immediately, they hate car rides.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

Lol mine just about throws up when I take her 5 mins to the vet. Unfortunately for her, she has to do day-long road trips once or twice a year to visit family. But after she chills out, she's quite an easy rider. Just very anxious at the beginning haha. I love her so much 😭

[-] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

That's because whenever you put them in the car, they're going to the cattery or the vet.

They're not like dogs where they might go to the park.

Nothing good comes from car rides for cats.

I used to think "snuck" was correct, but TIL.

[-] [email protected] 32 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Never trust Merriam-Webster. I don't know if the errors I found are fixed now, but the fact they existed in the first place is disappointing. The only trustworthy English dictionary is Oxford.

Edit: Snuck is a US informal term, according to the backup dictionary, Collins. This dictionary is riddled with ads, but also multiple sources for alternative definitions.

[-] [email protected] 22 points 4 months ago

Imagine being so far up your own ass you call another dialect a mistake that shouldn't exist.

[-] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago

The Merriam Webster link didn't say it was incorrect as the guy implied. They said it's a correct form and gave the history.

Dialects exist

[-] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago

Though, interestingly, it doesn't feel weird to me for the past form, only the past participle!

[-] [email protected] 15 points 4 months ago

There is no 'correct', there is only what is spoken. Snuck is perfectly acceptable.

[-] [email protected] 16 points 4 months ago

I snuck into your mom's house last night

[-] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago
[-] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago

Haha no, she wasn't able to keep mum. She never can.

It depends whether you're English or American. Spelt is English.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago

Spelt is also a grain, a variant of wheat.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

Yeah, one of the earliest cultivars

"snuck" is perfectly fine, as long as that's what you've heard since birth. 🤷

[-] [email protected] 34 points 4 months ago

I would love having a cat I can just bring with me anywhere I could bring a dog. I miss cats

[-] [email protected] 30 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Looks like kitty is along for the ride today, because I'm not taking a 2+ hour detour

[-] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago

Yea, but what do you do? No litter box, no food and water ... also, the guy has a cat meowing at him in his work van all day.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago

Stop and buy supplies of course! Even most grocery stores carry disposable litter pans, or just a plastic bin, along with food. Even a paper bowl will work for water.

135 kilometres.

(Circa 2.3 times Saarland in north - south direction)

[-] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

That's like, 1.3 times too many Saarlands.

Holy moly proper use of the regular past tense of sneak?? I haven't seen that on the internet ever. "I sneaked my way into the concert, but I also snuck several beers into the venue."

[-] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

Wait, English has two different verbs "to sneak"?

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

Yeah, but people will look at you weird if you use sneaked in serious contexts.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

My uncle took his cat to the race track because of this 😂
