I quit reddit June 12th, popped in on a few subs on the 30th to say goodbye, then immediately hopped on Lemmy. It was a nice detox honestly.

I have cut off Reddit since June 12th. It's been a nice detox. While not everything is here it's okay with me. I have a 1 year old to chase around that's been primarily keeping my attention anyways.

I've mostly moved here, though some of my favorite subs dont have an equivalent community here as of now and I'm a bit bummed about losing them.

Mostly.

All I'm on Reddit for now is to watch it burn and to participate in the one subreddit I truly care about on there. I'm not participating in anything else on there at all.

Been here for a few days. Feels like home

I am 100%. Sadly i don’t think most Reddit users will until lemmy becomes easier to use and gets a functioning IOS app.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Use https://wefwef.app it’s like Apollo for Lemmy

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Haven’t quit Reddit yet, but I am only posting or commenting to Lemmy and I exhaust the feed here before browsing Reddit.

I’m not highly involved in any communities there, else I’d attempt a mass migration.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Not totally. Reddit is a shithole but it's my shithole

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I'm trying. Since boost stopped working. I have been on reddit twice. It's a painful shit experience now and I hate it.

But also. Lemmy isnt quite enough yet. But it's helping me stay off the web more.

FB sucks. Reddit sucks and lemmy isn't itching my need for information.

Oh well. :).

Yes. Fuck bullies.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

In early June I decided to give Lemmy the old test drive, and I haven't left. Bye Reddit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I use lemmy occasionally. I do feel the impact of a significantly smaller community though. A lot of the subreddits I would regularly check are not even here. So unfortunately for now, I’m forced to use the official app. Tried the RSS route too, but it seems it would be too expensive for me.

I’m sure the lemmy community will continue to grow, so I’ll stick around.

Yeah, just got a temp ban for apparently wrongfully reporting a post. Fuck that place

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Still sometimes visit Reddit for some of the communities that don't seem like migrating. Try to limit the time there to be very minimal, anyway.

But I don't think that wiping my data there would be a good thing, because posts/comments could be useful to others still. Maybe it would make sense to repost those here, and then remove πŸ€”

Not entirely just yet. Reddit as a source of information is incredibly valuable and Lemmy has yet to become that for me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I just use both. Lemmy for general browsing and Reddit when I want a more specific community that isn't around yet.

I was never a 3rd party app user really as I just use old.reddit through the browser on my phone so until old.reddit is killed off I'll probably continue to use both. Once thats gone though I won't be using Reddit, new UI is truly awful

I'm sussing out Lemmy as a replacement. I still go to Reddit but I've pretty much stopped all interactions other than just reading . Reddit has now become a place to fill the blank time in my day between the times I'm busy. Hopefully Lemmy will become a replacement soon than later.

Who is Lenny?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

For actual conversations, yeah. I still check one subreddit daily for game leak updates, but that's pretty much it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’m trying to, but finding a good client and trying to find replacement communities isn’t as straight forward as Reddit was.

I’ll be spending more time on here since I got a random 3 day ban without a reason. This has been happening every few months.

Welcome!

For clients, https://lemmyapps.netlify.app/ has a good list.

For communities, you can use https://lemmyverse.net/communities
