I’m 50/50 on whether they send a craft to catch up to Voyager and scrub the woman off the gold record at this point.

I propose we should send Musk to fetch it himself.

He'll just award himself a few funds from the US Treasury for that.

The directive, sent on January 22 and obtained by 404 Media, states:

“Per NASA HQ direction, we are required to scrub mentions of the following terms from our public sites by 5pm ET today. This is a drop everything and reprioritize your day request. Note that the list below is the list that exists this morning, but it may grow as the day goes on.

    DEIA

    Diversity (in context of DEIA)

    Equity (“ “)

    Inclusion (“ “)

    Accessibility (“ “)

    MSI

    Minority Serving Institution

    Indigenous People

    EEJ

    EJ

    Environmental Justice

    Underrepresented groups/people

Anything specifically targeting women (women in leadership, etc.)”

    This is some ridiculous bullshit.

Anything specifically targeting women (women in leadership, etc.)

    Hooooly fuck.

They're really not hiding it anymore. Well, I guess that's not new, but still, holy fuck. This might be some malicious compliance from NASA administrators or something.

Either that or go whole-hog the other direction.

    NASA History

Since its founding in 1958, white man at NASA have pushed the boundaries of scientific and technical limits to explore the unknown for all the male citizens of our planet. Discover the history of our human spaceflight, science, technology, and aeronautics programs.

    Remembering Our White Heroes

NASA will never forget the tragic loss of the all-male, all-white crews of the Apollo 1 crew, and some other people who we don't need to mention because we forgot about them.

    Hidden Figures

Did anyone other than white men ever play a pivotal role in spaceflight? It's possible, but if it had, I've been instructed not to tell you about it.

If you're going to get fired, make it count.

Not far enough. Someone might think “white man” is inclusive of diversity hires of descendants of immigrants from Ireland or Italy, and not exclusively of English origin.

Also it should be specified that these are straight men who never entertain wistful thoughts of another man's cock. Muscular, well-endowed straight men, whose rock-like chests glisten with fragile beads of moisture as they shower together before towelling each other off and pulling on their tight, white, form-hugging space underwear under their spacesuits, but who are not thereby aroused. This should be spelled out explicitly, to avoid any confusion.

This wouldn't get anyone fired in the current administration. That's promotion material. They're hoping for people to take the initiative just like that--don't make them tell you explicitly to post it. That's how you succeed as a Republican.

This is getting out of hand

Been that way for a while, and will only likely get worse.

I think this is a bit beyond just "getting out of hand". US is now few steps away from outright having a Ministry of Truth and a lot of media are actually going along with it voluntarily.

If you told me this would happen even a month ago, I would have probably laughed at you.

Can I get the ROI on all this bullshit experiment?

This is affecting our work - our Share point was down for two days while they looked through it for any mention of dei, delaying plenty of work that had nothing to do with dei.

But even putting that aside, now we have many (thousands?) government employees on admin leave, which means they're getting paid to do nothing. And likely will be for months.

And this delayed resignation thing, if they uphold their end of the deal, will cost even more. Especially since many of the takers seem to be people who were going to retire anyway, or "super commuters" that don't live near the office, both of whom were likely on their way out anyway.

That's a lot of money they are spending for no return at all.

Replace the NASA website with a continuous stream of the movie Hidden Figures with a scrolling banner above it saying "Fuck off Elon"

Lets make indigenous people invisible again, great.

Wasn't the Artemis Program advertised to land the first woman and first person of color in the moon? Well, I think Elon wanted to cancel the whole thing anyway (Except the NASA funding for his new rocket, of course).

Hows about dropping that SpaceX contract?

I know why, but can still be unhappy.
