Between the words "once lucid" and the expression on his face in his mugshot, I actually feel bad for the guy.

Don't do meth, kids.

He’s not regretting what he did, he’s regretting that he botched it and got arrested.

"There was a white male, camo vest, red hat, and white t-shirt walking with a possible long gun down Duss Avenue,"

Can you think of any “red hat” that would be associated with people who would want to do a mass shooting at a black church?

Not to mention the manifesto they found at his house. This guy needs to be locked up.

DeLuca told KDKA-TV that he and his department believe the incident was not racially motivated but brought on through a combination of Harris' alleged use of methamphetamine and his mental state at the time of the incident.

And his house was rigged up and booby trapped so you’ve got to think about how much of it was actually drug-induced psychosis and how much of it was racially motivated.

Meth can fuck your mental state up for a significant stretch of time, multiple days. It's enough out-of-your-mind time to write a manifesto and commit a shooting.

But you might be right, I'm just going off what the article claims.

I guess that's why the photo doesn't show him with an open mouth

Every gun owner thinks they're a responsible gun owner.

[-] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

The responsible ones don't end up on the news threatening a church, though.

[-] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

And they think they're responsible, same as this guy. Too many of them are mistaken.

Or do meth.

I don’t understand how the police decided this guy hadn’t planned to attack a church for racist reasons. Sounds like they didn’t find evidence at his house about his intention to attack a black church, but that doesn’t preclude racism as a reason.

I bet he wasn't making this face when he was preparing for the shooting.
