It's incredibly obvious that Ethan has just been isolated in a bubble for a year and has done zero critical thinking about Israel or why everyone shits on Israel. He very clearly wants everyone to reach his starting position (from which HE refuses to budge no matter the piles of evidence) of "Israel MUST exist as a Jewish-majority ethnostate." And that's basically it.
If you challenge that, he takes it (weirdly, imo) personally. As if a state all the way across the world existing changes his life in any fucking kind of way. The dynamic is different for his wife, still not justified, but it's different. For him though... why? Why are you continuing to gobble this racist shit?
It's incredibly interesting and depressing really seeing people come out of the woodwork who claimed for years to "hate Israel" and not be Zionists now chirping endlessly as it appears the Zionist state is teetering towards collapse. I guess it's easy to hide your true beliefs when there appears to be no danger for your ethnostate project of choice.
It's also very clearly a weird intertwining of him "not wanting to be wrong" (but he is... objectively so) and "taking it personally." The former is just petty, typical insecure man-baby stuff. The latter is petty, typical Amero-brained stuff (or I suppose Westoid more broadly) where every perceived "attack" on the foundations of a nationstate is taken personally by people who identify as patriotic citizens of the state. Typical bullshit nationalism that I thought(?) we all found out was bad in the last 100 years... certainly I think Ethan would find German or Turkish nationalism weird and problematic to say the least. But when it's America or, dumber, a foreign country that he has no ties to except he moved there and married a woman from there... it's ok to him. Or he fails to recognize he is engaging in braindead nationalistic tendencies despite being told what he's doing for a year. So, back to him being stuck in a bubble.
