Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The middle panel is for all distros based on Ubuntu, the top right one is Ubuntu.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

RHEL should be on the top right

Okay, I may use mint because I grew up with windows and I'm getting older and scared of change, but I still relate to the youth 😅

Have you tried kubuntu with kde plasma?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

I use LM and have tried Kubuntu. LM is still my preferred distro, and Cinnamon is my preferred DE. It's just so smoothe.

I was starting an intense program for my software engineering school and was told not to switch desktop environments before to avoid any issues that you weren't ready for. So I made only a small change of Ubuntu through wsl on windows to Linux Mint. So far so good lol

Really? I'm in the gym rn, lifting.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 year ago

Lifting your own corpulent mass doesn't count

I know everyone here is joking but I'm actually not fat or anything, I'm actually trying to gain weight to build muscles

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Yeah, just joking for sure. I'm also a daily arch user who works out, lifting+cardio 5x/week. I like to joke I'm in a long-term bulk, with a cut always just around the corner.

    I am personally offended.

    All my lingerie is pink.

Trying Zorin right now. It's not too bad, honestly. Still not convinced I should run it instead of opensuse tumbleweed, but maybe.

It's just a theme distro. Just install gnome in openSUSE and install the dash-to-panel plugin and you're set.

I'll have a look at that actually. It's been a while since I ran anything other than windows, and last I used a Linux distro was when Ubuntu was a pain in the ass and didn't play nice with laptops. I haven't landed on anything specific yet. I did like openSUSE.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah pretty much every theme distro is made obsolete already anyways. Once we were blessed with Hannah Montana Linux, there is just no competition anymore.

Ok now that is the prefect environment for productivity.

Thought I felt some weight coming on during the arch installation process. Then I typed archinstall into the command line, interrupting the ritual.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

You need to install EndeavourOS, the extra weight will be muscle

    trust me, bro
