My 14 month old had a short wake up at 2:40am. For whatever reason (work stress, mostly) I couldn’t get back to sleep. I’ll be running on about 4 hours of sleep and caffeine today.

4yo vomited on their bed during the night. I probably got around the same amount of sleep.

Hang on there, and good luck!

Best advice I've got: If you qan manage it, try to catch a power nap about mid day. It won't make up for the sleep lost, but will make coping with it more tolerable!

This is how I have managed to maintain sanity a reasonable amount of the time as a parent. Thank goodness for working from home. About to take a short snooze now!

I can’t get my kids to eat a decent breakfast today. It’s all so fucking arbitrary.

Oof. Here's to caffeine!

If any mystic parent energy pool exists, I'm sending you some. (If it exists that pool is probably always desperately empty...)

I ran on 4 hours of sleep per night for the first six months of my son's life. I didn't even know that a human can get that tired and still be alive.

We just got a new puppy and I'm new parent's level of tired again.

My oldest was such a terrible sleeper, we were basically zombies for the first 6-8 months. I got rear ended on my way home from getting some diapers. The woman said she was tired because she had a new puppy. I told her I was tired because I had a baby. I was too tired to have any sympathy for her. Looking back, now I feel a little bad for being so snippy. Puppies are no joke.

He has to go out in the middle of the night, and early in the morning, and he takes constant attention throughout the day. I forgot how much time and effort puppies take after living with older dogs for a decade and a half. Idk why I thought this would be cute and fun. Babies are definitely still harder though, especially if they're colicky.

Oof. Despite dental work I slept great. Would pass you some of my hours if I could.

Awesome. That happens to me too sometimes.

Are you supposed to let them be at that age or supposed to rock them back to sleep or something?

Haha. Great question, and I'm about to give a shitty (but true) answer.

It depends. It depends on the kid. It also depends what is happening in the kid's life. It also probably depends on the phase of the moon or something.

No idea what you’re supposed to do. We briefly rock her, and then put her back down. She tends to fall back to sleep pretty quickly these days.
