Initial hopes of 1 million shipments in 2024 dashed by manufacturing problems.

Apple has been forced to make drastic cuts to production forecasts for the mixed-reality Vision Pro headset, unveiled last month after seven years in development and hailed as its most significant product launch since the iPhone.

The complexity of the headset design and difficulties in production are behind the scaling back of targets, while plans for a more affordable version of the device have had to be pushed back, according to multiple people with direct knowledge of the manufacturing process.

At $3500, why would anyone expect numbers like 1 million shipments?

Seriously. No mayor would send that many people out to clean.

@Hypx Well, look at MacBook Pro, sales numbers and price.

MacBook Pro, sales numbers and price.

Why would you compare a new laptop from a company that has been making them (and a market leader) for decades in a well established market with actual consumer demand, with a new entry into a basically nonexistent market that several big tech firms have already failed to launch?

Outside of being a welded on apple disciple, I cannot think of a good reason.

Most people are not buying the $3500 and up model. Plus, a laptop is vastly more useful than a mixed reality headset, at least for most people.

I'm really interested in what Apple is doing with AR "spacial computing", but I just can't afford what they're doing anymore.

Seems convenient for Apple unless if they've sold out already
