General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Good for them - no reason to work in an office

Surgeon. If you can't do you job by computer fair enough. Otherwise it's unnecessary.

Before COVID: all of it. After COVID mostly jobs that require you to physically interact with stuff.

I used to be allowed to WFH once a week. It's been almost 3 years since I've been to the office and I no longer live on the same side of the ocean. Same company.

Team building is very important.

That's why my employer strongly requests us to meet in person 2 times/year.

My employer requests all sorts of things, but I simply ignore any email that doesn't say the things I want it to say

3 years later and I've not been fired, so I guess they don't really care that much.

Are they getting their work done?

That’s the only real question, imho everything else is poor management

Managers aren’t trained in the field they manage.

Incapable of understanding if they are getting value for the salaries they pay unless they have a webcam watching you.

Yup. Its becoming progressively more common to have managers whose only skill is shouting and intimidation, no clue about the role that they manage.

is this an office where the public can walk in and get direct service. if so then they should go in but if not then good for them. its better for the environment.
