I couldn't find a black metal community in the fediverse so... I started one! And even if there are others or others pop up, it's nice to have local varieties.

Sopuli seems like a nice home for such a community as the Finnish black metal scene is very active and has a long history. This community welcomes fans of all genres as long as we treat each other with respect and honesty. Black metal is a genre that originated with underdogs and outcasts. However, that does not mean that there is no main stream appeal or that "popular" bands are any less valid.

Everyone is welcome, hate will not be tolerated.

Panzerfaust - The Suns of Perdition Chapter IV

A very dense recording which sparks apocalyptic feelings in me. I first learned about the band when they supported Kanonenfieber, so I’m rather late to the party.

The music is some kind of Black Metal, but not industry standard. To me it feels more like Hell Ambient. I very much dig the arrangement with the two singers, one gnarling, one growling.

Probably best described as a black 'n' roll/hardcore punk mix, these anti-conversatives from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA released their second album in 2022. Linked is the fifth track of the album, a real highlight for me right smack dab in the middle of it. Super fun and pretty catchy as all hell, hope you good folks enjoy. Plus this album art fuckin rules.

Probably the last album from Dutch doom-tinged black metal legends Urfaust. A very serious and heartfelt Swansong.

Dispar - Skin (2023) (flowingdownward.bandcamp.com)

Atmospheric black metal is not everyone's jam, but it is mine. Flowing Downward records in Italy put out a ton of great atmo-black bands, and Dispar is one of those.

Swelling choruses, droning guitars, lanquid drumming, and tons of synth stabs to welcome in the autumn to come.

FFO: Alcest, Unreqvited, Sadness, Sorry.
