You can use the protest map on no kings.org to find a local protest happening near you: https://www.nokings.org/ (or use this site to use your zip code if the map isn't working for you).

You don't need a reservation, you don't need to sign up, just find the address and head over. Be sure to bring some water and snacks, and try to talk with the people around you to make connections, exchange contact info (I recommend Delta Chat, which let's you instantly share or join an encrypted chat with a just a link or QR code).

There aren't many chances in the year to make connections with others with such a huge group of like-minded people, so make the most of it! Don't just match and chant, reach out to others and if they have a good vibe, talk to them about staying in touch and organizing together, perhaps by helping a local mutual aid group!

Idealist.org 'in person' initiative

Idealist is primarily a job/volunteer list but they have been working to find ways to encourage people to organize and get out and do meaningful in-person work together on days like 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, etc.

They have been organizing zoom calls to try to brainstorm how to encourage people to participate. You can read or watch the presentation for the general premise of the project at the linked site.

Undaunted, the activists in Santarém took on one of the US powerhouses of world trade. Cargill generates revenues of more than $160bn (£119bn) a year, employs 155,000 people and accounts for more than 70% of the soy and maize shipped through Santarém.

[...]

This interrupted one of the focal points of the global food trade because the Cargill facility in Santarém is a primary hub between the nation with the biggest farms – Brazil – and the country with the most numerous dining tables – China, which is the destination for most of the soy.

...which is fed to enslaved animals which the humans in China then eat.

Santarém, Pará, Brazil – On Monday, February 23, Brazil’s government announced the revocation of Decree 12,600/2025, which opened the door to the privatizing the Tapajós, Madeira, and Tocantins rivers for industrial waterways in the Amazon. The government confirmed the decision following a meeting in Brasília between Indigenous leaders Sônia Guajajara, Brazil’s Minister of Indigenous Peoples, and Guilherme Boulos, Minister of the Presidency’s General Secretariat. The announcement came amid an Indigenous occupation of Cargill’s port in Santarém, Pará State, and in the wake of growing national and international solidarity and extensive news coverage of the mobilization.

The decree authorized the government to assess the concession of waterways to private operators, including the responsibility for maintenance, dredging and vessel‑traffic management

“They may try to criminalize us but we know what the river means to us. We know what the forest means to our people,”

We rented out space for the evening, got the county council out for a Q&A session, and put out sign-up sheets for a dozen different activism opportunities we're planning. One of the activities is the sign brigade, which had samples on display.

We aren't just trying that in a small town, we're succeeding. We collected over $300 in donations for a local immigrant support network just tonight!

“This river is our road. It is our source of food, the home of our fish, and essential to the balance of the forest and the climate. How can this richness be turned into a corridor for soy? And worse, without listening to the peoples who live in and from it? That is why we are here — because we want Brazil to respect ILO Convention 169 and consult us before decisions are made. This decree was signed first, and now they want to discuss how to consult us? That is not consultation; it is an attempt to legitimize what has already been decided. And decided by whom? For whom? To benefit a handful of foreign companies, like Cargill, that profit from human rights and environmental violations in the Amazon,” said Auricélia Arapiuns, a leader from the Lower Tapajós region.

Weekly posts (slrpnk.net)

I have noticed a few communities create weekly posts centered around the topic of the community.

Do you think this would be helpful here? Maybe it will bring visibility to the initiatives we are all working on as well as help new people get into in person activism?

In my previous post we had a small discussion on the community log. I have used one of the proposed logos and would like to know if you have any feedback.

Additionally I am proposing to set a banner. On one hand I like the protest frog images from a few months back, but we can also go with something not so America-centric.
