Paalam, Lemmy! (lemmy.world)

As you can tell from the 1 visitor average per day for the last year (aka. me lol), this community is pretty much dead. No one is reading this as well, but in case you wander here while bored — I'm sticking a fork on Lemmy PH. No more monthly threads or news posts, at least from me.

It started out strong and was brimming with potential, but once r/PH reopened, 90% of the posters made a beeline back to the sub. The rest who decided to stick, slowly packed their bags as well. I don't appreciate being made a joke in Discord, but hey, such is life and the reality of protests.

Thanks for giving this community a shot! It was a fun first month or so! I'm focusing my attention to UndustFixation now, which has been keeping me busy outside of work, actually. Stay safe!

Edit: Shout out to u/gradenko_2000 who saw the protests as performative and took it a step further by not going back to Reddit at all and refusing repeated invites to Lemmy.

I do, because I believe I'm more than any preconceived stereotypes people have regarding Filipinos.

At least ganun ako dati, and I struggle on it from time to time.

Madalas na sabihin na Filipinos have an inferiority complex. Rather, we tend to have simultaneous superiority and inferiority complexes. Or to rephrase, we tend to see ourselves or the country as main characters.

The inferiority complex is reality shattering the initial feelings of superiority or exceptionalism. Napaisip na ako, why are we so engrossed with comparing ourselves with our geographic neighbors? Bakit gutom tayo sa validation?

May point ang looking outside the country to find what needs to be improved within.

Tama nga na instead, we should compare us to ourselves in the past. Are we better than our past selves?

The last time I put ₱ in my Modified Pag-ibig 2 (MP2) was so long ago. I knew Gcash's fee was ₱ 5.

What's the cheapest way to put ₱ in MP2? If there's a free way where you'll get a bonus per transfer, it's probably the cheapest.

A woman in the Philippines who scored a surprise win against an Australian business in the Fair Work Commission has blazed a trail for potential legal claims — including class actions — by offshore workers, lawyers say.

Joanna Pascua, who was sacked last year by a Brisbane credit repair outfit for whom she was doing paralegal work from her home in Manila, drew on her experience advocating for clients in Australia to file an unfair dismissal claim.

Here in the Northern Territory, Filipinos are the number one migrant community according to Australian Bureau of Statistics country of birth data.

In every other Australian jurisdiction, that spot is held by English, Indian, Chinese or New Zealander migrants.

So why do so many Filipinos choose to call the territory home?

Looking po for Aspin Askal puppy puppies or less than one year old. Willing to pay transport, abala, else fees.

Saradong bakod (concrete hollow blocks) at steel gate, may bakuran (both cemented at lupa/soil). Hindi kami nag-c-collar, o tali, o kulungan man. At malayang makakapag labas-masok.

Thanks in advance.

Akbayan Party-list first nominee Atty. Chel Diokno said he was shocked to find out that their group is leading the party-list race based on partial, unofficial results.

Diokno told ABS-CBN News on Tuesday they expected to garner a lot of votes, but not the number they initially have.

We were hoping of course, for a lot of votes, but we never expected this number," he said.

When asked what contributed to this initial result, Diokno pointed to their campaign strategy, a chunk of which was through social media, which he believes 'leveled the playing field.'

Kinaya talaga," he explained.

"Hindi kami tumigil na umikot mula pa last year. Talagang alam namin na uphill battle ito. Kaya we really did times 10 ang effort namin. Hindi lang sa social media, pati narin on the ground," he added.

Under Republic Act No. 7491, a group that gets at least 2 percent of total votes in the party-list race will get at least one seat in the House of Representatives. If a group garners another 2 percent, an additional seat will be given but is capped at a total of three seats.

Incumbent Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña is the second nominee, while the third nominee is Moro women and indigenous people's leader Dadah Kiram Ismula.

Diokno said they are ready to get to work once they enter the lower house.

"Our priority is really involved in gut issues that affecting our people today.

Diokno welcomed their entry to the lower house as a chance for progressive groups to be united.

"This is just a great opportunity for all the progressive blocs to get together and to really make themselves felt in Congress. Sa tingin ko, napaka-gandang pagkakataon ito. Excited na excited din kami to reach out to all the other groups," he said.

When asked about what position Akbayan will take in Congress, whether it will be opposition or will they collaborate with the administration, he said: "Tingin ko ang pinaka-effective na positi position ay yung issue position.

For example, West Philippine Sea. We're happy with the way the administration is conducting itself,"

Diokno reiterated his position on reforming the party-list law and being against political dynasties.

Tatlo yung nakikita namin eh. It should be represent the sector. Connected doon, yung napiling nominee should represent the sector at pangatlo yung political dynasty," Diokno added.

As of 9:02 am of May 13 ,2025, Akbayan is at the top spot with 2,204,516 votes at 6.54%.

I need a nonprofessional driver's license. I need a student driver's permit 1st right? 1 of the requirements for a student driver's permit is a certificate of completion of the Theoretical driving course. I've known someone who can drive and has had a license. I asked Grok 3 if I could ask him to teach me instead of going to a driving school. Per Grok 3, the certificate from the driving school is needed. Correct?

From reading the requirements, what naturally comes to mind is just go to a driving school. I'm just wondering if I can save ₱ by not going to a school.

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.
