The film takes place in three different eras: prehistoric times, ancient Rome, and the 1920s ("The present age of Speed, Need, and Greed"). This multi-era structure is a parody of DW Griffith's movie Intolerance.

In this short, Koko and his clown buddy pester the cartoonist (Max Fleischer) for some decent mode of transportation.

NOTE: This version of Youtube is actually a rerelease with a new title card added. Koko did not have a name until 1924-- before this, he was just called "the clown". Also note that this cartoon was originally silent, and the music has been added later.

A washout occurred near Suman, Indiana, causing the train to derail and slide down a twenty foot embankment. The engineer, George Novenger, was killed when the engine fell over and pinned him underneath. Four passengers were also injured.
