B.C. Premier David Eby says he shared plans to put a "temporary pause on a number of sections" of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, known as DRIPA, for up to three years in a meeting Thursday morning with First Nations leaders.

...

"What he’s proposing now is to amend DRIPA to put the provisions he’s concerned about on hold for up to three years" or until the Supreme Court of Canada hears two major court cases related to DRIPA and Aboriginal title.

A Kelowna, B.C., man will have to pay a $5,000 penalty for flying a drone near an active wildfire. Derek Leippi was found guilty of flying a drone from his boat on Okanagan Lake near a helicopter fighting the McDougall Creek wildfire in 2023. The helicopter pilot testified the drone took his focus away from firefighting efforts. Leippi said he was not aware firefighting efforts were underway. But the judge in the case ruled any reasonable person would know homes and businesses were being evacuated and buildings in flames while the drone was being flown. The maximum penalty for interfering with fire control under the Wildfire Act is $100,000 and up to one year in jail. Leippi was found guilty of violating the Wildfire Act in Kelowna Provincial Court in February.

For this summer I have quite a bit more time to enjoy my trip from victoria to calgary and I want to try to drive across the province differently than I have before.

Are there any gravel or logging roads that can serve as alternative routes so we aren't just doing the usual hwy1/hwy3? Have a 4x4 pickup that can pretty much go anywhere.

Has anyone done gray creek pass in a truck recently?

Near the end of Lowan’s video, Valeriote and fellow Green MLA Rob Botterell pop up, talking about how Glumac should consult B.C.'s conflict of interest commissioner.

The B.C. NDP said Glumac did so more than two months ago.

In a letter dated Jan. 9 that was distributed by the NDP on Friday, Commissioner Jeffrey Schnoor wrote that Glumac's $4,000 investment in AIQ was "not substantial" and that "it is highly unlikely that a decision would come before you that would meaningfully affect AIQ’s value." "I am therefore satisfied that no concerns are likely to arise under the Members’ Conflict of Interest Act in relation to your holdings in AIQ," said Schnoor.
