[–] frunch@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago (3 children) Damn, never seen an xkcd where they used that kind of language! 😳 permalink fedilink source hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] accideath@lemmy.world 94 points 2 years ago (2 children) It‘s not original. The joke originated in xkcd 821 (Five Minute Comics Pt. 3), however it was a little different still. The wording (besides the slur) stems from xkcd creator Randall Munroe‘s book What if?. If you compare the image to actual xkcds, you’ll notice, that the font is different. Also, I found a picture of the comic from the book on pinterest. Can’t have people think xkcds could be this tasteless. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] MeatsOfRage@lemmy.world 36 points 2 years ago (1 child) Weird, why would someone rewrite a joke to land on the same punchline permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] accideath@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago (1 child) I mean, the first rewrite (by Munroe himself) was probably just turning a 5min doodle into a clean, more streamlined comic. The n-word one probably just to be edgy. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Lemjukes@lemm.ee 12 points 2 years ago (1 child) Edgy = racist but a coward about it permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] accideath@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago As most racists are when confronted permalink fedilink source parent [–] frunch@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago Ahhh thanks for the clarification! Randall wouldn't use that, and that's not his font. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 19 points 2 years ago (1 child) It seems to be from his "What If" book and it wasn't "nigga" but "dude" permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Railing5132@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago Confirmed.
