Most Taiwanese aren't this deluded. I spent a couple years in Taipei and views on China are more nuanced than the ones lurking Reddit and Twitter would have you believe.
99% of westerners still think Taiwan wants to take back the mainland while at the same time being independent lol
I don't think .ost of them think Taiwan wants the mainland back. In America, I think most of them don't even get that it is nominally a "government in exile". It's like they think it's still Formosa and the PRC is just terrorizing an indigenous population off of its coast.
ime this is correct, to most westerners Taiwan is just a generic people yearning to be free from China's yoke. they don't know or care to know about any of the history involved
