fall detection too, i think it's on by default when a workout is detected

Nope, it’s active all the time, and likes to go off if I reach down to pick something up too quickly at work

Nope this is false, you can turn it off or even set it to on during workouts.

Open the Apple Watch App, go to Emergency SOS, and then you can toggle it from there.
