Anyway - Javier Milei, a caricature of a libertarian invented deep in the Hexbear Bit Factory, has won the Argentinian general election; and with a 12 point lead over Massa, it wasn't even particularly close. There are several analogies for this situation - Trump beating Hillary, Bolsonaro winning in 2018, or the alternate universe where Le Pen beat Macron. Massa is not a great guy. The last couple years have been difficult for Argentina, facing massive inflation and the same general economic downturns that are happening everywhere.
Milei is an... interesting person. To name just a couple things going on in his deeply bizarre life, he has a very special relationship with his sister, and an even more special relationship with his mastiff, Conan. When Conan died in 2017, he was so utterly distraught that he had him cloned into four new dogs, named Murray, Milton, Robert, and Lucas, for his economist idols. And he uses mediums to speak to his dead dog. This is probably the closest we're ever going to get to having a dog be president of a country.
Milei wants to essentially collapse the economy even harder. Playing off the general public sentiment of "dollar = good, peso = bad", he has vowed to make the national currency of Argentina the US dollar, thus eagerly giving a massive amount of control over the Argentinian economy directly to America. He wants to take a chainsaw to the status quo, cut off trade with communist countries like China, and demolish the Central Bank. Will Argentinian capitalists and the Senate let him do this? Probably not. What happens with their membership in BRICS+? Who knows. Where does Peronism go from here? Who can say.
But he still won, and will now be president. I suppose that every dog has its day.

Resources For Understanding The War
Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.
Telegram Channels
Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.
Pro-Russian
https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.
Pro-Ukraine
Almost every Western media outlet.

Last week's discussion post.
ABSOLUTE MAD LADS DID IT AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME, EAT YOUR HEART OUT METAL GEAR!
''You know, I asked an active-duty Army officer once: If an infantryman had to take on a tank one-on-one, how should he do it?''
''And what was his answer?''
'' "Don't." He swore there's no way in hell a single infantryman could take down a tank by himself.''
In his defence, real armies who knows what they're doing are not sending tanks out on the battlefield without infantry protection.
on that point, real armies have infantry that has a degree of motivation, not some slight more fancy concentration camp guards who the main job is to terrorize someone's grandparents
One thing that I haven't seen explained in detail is, how the fuck do you use infantry around armored vehicles with the Trophy system? It's like a shotgun blast in the general direction of any incoming rocket, and my understanding is it would shred any infantry within range.
Definitely a case of them deciding their cool extra special western style weapon will be so perfect they won't need anything else. They're clearly wrong as these videos show but I doubt they can accept that easily
I guess you can bring a jeep with a mounted gun and guard it from a safe distance, I think the fr*nch do that
Israel say the trophy system has infantry safety features, but I fail to see how those would work.
It shows the next guy where not to stand, thus improving his safety
i think it's supposed to be a pretty tight cone, but that seems very difficult to calculate in the .4 of a second before the rocket hits your tank
i guess those things were designed for long range maybe?
the calculation isn't to save infantry, it's just to make sure their testicles are recoverable
First off, dismounted infantry defense around an armored unit wouldn't have the boots right around the tank because first, tanks are bullet/explosive sponges and they'd get taken out way to easily, and secondly infantry can't actually protect something they're right up next to because they'd get plinked off from any direction easily.
Proper infantry defense would have at least a platoon broken up into fireteams establishing outer perimeter defensive points, that are close enough to each other to prevent penetration of blindspots, around the tank with at least a reserve squad to act as a response force to any contact.
If the armored units conducting a movement, then the infantry must skirmish ahead, along, and behind the armored unit to minimize the chances of ambush and to recon for any enemy defensive positions or minefields/traps.
That makes sense, thanks
also keep in mind urban combat fucking sucks if you're the offensive force
Yeah it sure seems like there's no way for the IOF to succeed with a ground invasion, even if their troops were the fantasy heroes they have styled them to be
especially not a dense urban battlefield
The answer all along was the same one given by Dark Souls; Circle Strafing, or as the military nerds call it "flanking"
Tbh, the Israeli army has the AI intelligence of a Nintendo 64 enemy
Then would Netanyahu be Gwyn? Gwyn being such a weak final boss and Netanyahu's whole "children of light" comment really makes it fit
No matter what happens next, the IDF will never be able to defeat the paper tiger allegations.
Seriously, what the hell were those guys doing?
Chilling out, getting the sand out of their helmets, taking in the sun. You know, what one normally does in the middle of an active war zone full of tunnels where anyone could pop out anywhere.
meanwhile the IOF is posting themselves shooting up classrooms
more american than americans
Lol oof
That guy was brave as hell running up to that tank, you could see the MG turret scanning around. Those fascists are toast with that shaped charge planted on the rear door. Is it a firing port on the door or something else?
Looks like it, it was a Namer so the infantry inside are supposed to be using it. Given that I haven't seen a single infantryman in these videos, its probably just the crew manning the remote weapons station on the roof, explains why no one spotted him planting the charge.
IDF logic: make an incredibly heavily armored IFV, get too scared to put infantry in it
A real life game of FNAF
Holy shit. My heroes
Crazy, I can't believe what I'm seeing here. I have never seen combat footage like this it's absolutely crazy.
