You should take off the camera protectors. Your camera lenses don’t need extra protecting. They’re of the best-protected pieces of glass in your iPhone, covered with sapphire crystal. Camera protectors you can buy are almost always weaker than the glass your phone already comes with to protect the camera. If you’re able to crack your iPhone’s camera glass, something pretty extreme probably happened as your iPhone is more than equipped to handle drops and some scratchy things confronting the camera glass. Not to mention another layer of glass between your camera lens and the world helps degrade photo/video quality. Overall not worth it.

As a watch guy, I’d like to chime in because there are a ton of misconceptions about sapphire glass. It is used in a lot of watch crystals so that’s where my experience is from. Sapphire glass is harder than the other glass which makes it more scratch resistant than the other glass. That does not mean it is tougher and will be the strongest glass on your phone. Sapphire glass actually cracks fairly easily, it just doesn’t scratch unless you really get something deep.

Putting a plastic cover over your phone cameras is dumb but we should also be accurate about sapphire glass. A lot of these things I’ve learned over the years with watches.

To add another example, if you see a watch or another item with “100 meters water resistance” for example, that does not mean it can go 100m under water. It’s really dumb. They actually don’t recommend swimming in a watch if it has anything less than 100m water resistance. All of these buzzwords and stuff Apple throws around doesn’t fool watch guys. We have all learned about sapphire glass and water resistance the hard way.
