Sadly, I think you have significantly overestimated those who do that, as having a "reason" in mind beyond simply having a desire to just blurt it out, which is immediately followed by blurting it out.

The only reason I tried to get karma on the old site was cause I wanted to post a meme on r/memes but they had a bot that would remove your post if your account karma was too low. I never got enough karma to post a meme. I think it was added to stop bots from posting memes, but it was so annoying and I really hope that doesn’t appear here.

I think the lack of karma tracking is the bigger thing.
