The women have relatively thin hair in their old age. On my dad's side, he and his father both have full heads of hair into their old age. I turned 30 this year and no sign of baldness yet, but I do dread a day when someone tells me they see a bald spot at the back. There's still hope. And I'm holding onto that hope like crazy. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [+] Microplasticbrain@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 1 year ago) [deleted] permalink fedilink source parent [–] catfish@programming.dev 1 point 2 years ago hit the finasteride at the first sign.. the earlier the better permalink fedilink source parent [–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago Both my maternal grandfather and my maternal uncle are bald. Your mom gets one from your grandpa and your grandma, so wouldn't both grandpa and your uncles be the correct answer? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] dustyData@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago It's a bit more complex than just the X chromosome. 80% of men will get male pattern baldness either way. The age of onset is what changes the most, but the X chromosome only has 6 of 63 genes involved. So, yes, but also no. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 1 point 2 years ago Then how come they all still have all their hair and I don't? I definitely got my dad's hair. permalink fedilink source parent [–] electrogamerman@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago I once sucked my mother's brother permalink fedilink source parent
