As everyone knows, it's that time of the year again that we must prep our rock storages for winter.

I emptied the pallet entirely, cleaned out the leaves and reinforced the bottom a bit. I added some treated lumber blocks under it to lift it off the ground and I tensioned a threaded rod to span through the box to prevent the sides from bulging out. Then I added a permanent tarp to prevent leaves from getting in anymore and stop the pallet from rotting further. It's also easy to roll to the side when I want to look at my collection. The buckets contain all the smaller stones I have.

Dear Dullster,

What are your lovely rocks used for?

This is just a storage. You never know when you need a bunch of good rocks. I accumulate a lot of them from all over my yard.

What situations/projects would require a large collection of rocks?

I'm genuinely interested because I can't think of any use for them outside of building a rock garden.

Fire pit, fire place, front porch stone work. Sauna, the fucking Mongolians again. Concrete foundation. Ponds.
