I learned that you should roll up a period pad and use the wrapper of the new pad to hold it rolled closed. They have a little tape and it reduces mess and smell.

In my defense, I didn't use pads until last year.

going from pads / tampons to the silicone cup was my learning a better way. First week was rough but by the end of the week and thereafter I couldn't even feel it once it was in. Went to fuck a few times and the dude was like TF is this? And I'd be like oh shit lemme swap it for a disc real quick.

I am not and never have been in possession of a vagina, so please don't think I'm trying to tell anyone who is their business. That said, I saw diva cups being discussed and strongly recommended on reddit ten to fifteen years back and suggested one to my wife, then girlfriend, since everyone who said they had used one also said they were a much better experience.

She was resistant at first and I didn't push since it's her body, but apparently she took the recommendation to heart because one day one showed up at our house (not my doing) and she's used them continuously (when needed) since then.

She has occasionally described their workings, in humorous terms, to me. I approve because she's happier and they create less waste.

edit: To be clear, while I do approve, I didn't mean to imply that it was a deciding factor.
