Haley Stevens’ staff has resigned following the Democratic lawmaker’s decision to jump ship and endorse Republican Mike Rogers for Senate.

Just hours after Rep. Stevens (D-Mich.) officially endorsed Republican Senate nominee Rogers on Sunday, Justin German, Stevens’ chief of staff, said he and many members of his team had resigned.

“As Haley Stevens’ chief of staff for eight years, I speak on behalf of our team in wholeheartedly supporting Abdul El-Sayed for Senate,” German said Sunday in a statement. “This election is too important to sow division or stand on the sidelines. We are shocked and heartbroken by Congresswoman Stevens’ decision to support Mike Rogers.”

Fetterman is a sitting senator...

I don't think he can change who he caucuses with before January, but if we get a Senate majority of 1 with Fetterman, kicking him out would be insane, mostly because he would likely change parties himself then.

But that's the difference, Fettermen is a senator and Stevens is a lame duck house member not even in a general election.

It's pretty obvious why they're being treated differently:

Majorities matter.

I don't often agree with your takes or tone, but you are right on here. As a PA resident who has to own their vote for Fetterman, he was and is still better than Oz. Did he misrepresent himself? Totally. Will I vote for him again? Not if I have even a slightly better option.

But for as political as Lemmy acts, I see so few people actually looking at details. Congressional votes are not private, anyone can look them up. Fetterman is the "worst" Democratic by voting record. This is undeniable. He was bad before, and he's worse now. But he still votes in line with what he was sent to Washington to represent 80% of the time. He's still better than any Republican that could get the job. So yeah, vote the dude out the second we get someone running against him, but until then, he's a win 4/5 times. Push him to be a Republican, and what do we get? Say goodbye to that 80%.

    That is politics.
