Hey comrades !!!…. I hope everyone is doing okay. I wanted to share a little update about the eight sisters in Gorom because things are still difficult for them and we’re trying to figure out a safer way forward.
First, thank you to everyone who helped share their situation and contributed towards food. I heard a donation was made for food but it hasn’t reflected in the account yet. I’m continuing to share because their situation hasn’t stopped.
I spoke with David today . He told me they raised their safety concerns with the officials handling their registration and assessment, but were informed there is currently no further support available beyond registration. The sisters don’t feel safe settling in Gorom and David is worried it will be difficult to find work there.
Some of you who have followed our journey already know what we went through in Gorom. After we were registered, we experienced attacks, our shelter was burned and we ended up homeless before eventually making our way to Juba. I still remember how frightening that time was. I really don’t want these sisters to go through anything similar. That’s one of the reasons I’m trying to help them find a safer place before things get worse.
We’re now looking at bringing all eight to Juba so they can stay together with us. We’ve been informed that relocating here won’t affect their registration and the relevant offices for accessing assistance are here. David has experience baking bread and is willing to look for restaurant work once he’s here.
We’re trying to raise $2,150
- $200 for transport for all eight ($25 each). 2.$1,950 for three months’ rent on an apartment that can accommodate us all.
If you’re able to donate, please do. If you can’t, sharing the campaign with five people or introducing us to someone who might be able to help would mean so much.
Thank you for continuing to check on us and stand with these sisters.
