Like it's amazing, I needed my tooth out because it was infected, the doctor told me straight up to do a root canal I'd need to be forwarded to an oral surgeon and then it costs $3 grand and then it's only good for about 4-5 years. So we decided on pulling the tooth, the roots of the other tooth that I had that fell out, and treating the infection with medicine.

If I didn't have medicaid I'd be super boned. Now with that said, modern dentistry is amazing, he shot me up on both sides of my mouth and in 10 min he extracted the tooth and the roots. EVERYONE should have access to this, it's a human right!!

Basically no dental work lasts forever. The same goes for replacement joints. You kind of have to judge how long you expect to live and whether you should spring for the 25 year hip or the 15 year hip. It's pretty anxiety inducing.

If you've got fillings, crowns, root canals etc. it's important to keep getting checkups because they can see the beginnings of failure on xray and fix them before they become a real problem. Four to five years is bad, but it could be because of individual conditions. My mom had a root canal fail after 15 years.
