I fucking hate instagram. So I have a friend who always sends me instagram posts. I don't have an insta so I view them in browser but anyways. I have this feeling when watching insta content and it's just kinda making me agressive. It just feels fake. It feels like there's always this hard to describe layer over every. Single. Post. This air of cliché normativity. Everything's unbearably clean, Almost sterile. Everything's unbearably performative, always feels like it's hiding something, I cannot quite grasp, but that's too important to just retouch away, like insta does. Everything has this unbearable rich-american-kids-from-a-bad-teenage-tv-show-vibe. Everything I receive from there is just kinda hard to watch. Like, the content, the message can even be good and well intended takes on politicial subjects. But the way it's presented always screams "vanity" to me.

So my question:

Is it just me or is everything on insta intentionally or unconsciously vain and superficial?

Am I just massively prejudiced?

Is it just the bubble i get insights to or do you see this phenomenon spanning across different bubbles on the platform? Ppl with insta account s please tell about your experiences. Idk just frustrated about insta ig.

I have the same mentality and approach as well, and have legitimately lost friends because of this.

One of the excuses as to why they "don't have the time" to keep in contact is apparently because I'm "impossible to contact with no Facebook or Insta or Snapchat", even though they all had my phone number and even my primary personal email, and a Signal account.
