I was considering a short trip to visit family outside the city, here in the NYC region. By train it's like $70 for two of us. By car it's $10 in tolls (per Google maps), plus fuel/wear and externalized costs.

That's ass fucking backwards. I'd much rather take the train. I don't want to spend 5-7x to take the train.

At least within the city it's pretty sensible.
