Do they need to coup? It's already a dictatorship of capital with no left, not even an opposition party.

Also a blatant coup destroys the illusion of democracy. U.S. elites do not want that.

    Remember January 6th? That was a self coup in a sort of way. Despite the dictatorship of capital factionalism is strong in US politics. Look they already see the Dems, as big eeeevoool commies. Lets not forget the big lobbying by the MIC (think lockheed martin)
