I think they've given up in that facade, thier new stance seems to be:

I'm old and I'll be dead soon, and since AI appears to be advancing at an exponential pace we'll all be dead soon anyway when the AI kills us. But we need to run the AI first before the Chinese so we can be more powerful in the small window before the AI takes over.

I don't think AI is taking over anything, and I don't think the billionaires actually believe that either. The doom over AI is a marketing tool to keep their bubble propped up while they find ways to shift their money out and government and retirement funds in.

That's just what i think the Epstein class believe, as a cognitive dissonance to justify running AI data centers on gas turbines...

Sorry I'm saying I don't think they have cognitive dissonance, I don't think they care about the environment and don't think about it. They think about making more money in the current instance and short term future than the other guys making a lot of money and nothing else matters. Everything is a short term grift to make more money. If they have to think about the environment it's only because someone is using it to get in the way of the current grift and the issue raised is now a cost of doing business that is eating into the monetary lead they have against the next richest grifter. They will happily ignore those environmental costs if noone makes them think about it. The triple bottom line is two too many bottom lines.
