To be fair it's because of how society teaches girls/women to be expecting of another to make the first move, and unfortunately that usually falls upon men, or sometimes butch women etc.

So it's more of a problem with society (patriarchy) holding women (and other non-men) back than down to the fault of any individuals, or groups in some cases.

Citrus is also about step-sisters that want to frik. They're mostly against it because of the taboo of siblings banging rather than being lesbos.

The most unrealistic part of this manga was how nearly everyone was accepting of their relationship once they out themselves. I'm guessing the author wanted it to be a feel good story rather than a realistic one.

tbh, we don't really see the problem. As long as they are developed, educated and mature enough to make their own decisions and there's no power imbalance, or if there is then it's addressed then to us there's no problem.

  • eh i used to think the same way but i had to figure out the hard (experimental) way that even if there's no (observable) thing telling women that they can't make the first move, they still don't. at least not the cis girls that i've had crushes on or sth, idk why that is. i have to say that the story is different for transfems, and i don't mean to sound like a "oh transwomen are different", but i've seen transfems make the first move couple of times, while i've barely ever seen a cis woman do the same.

that's not an ideological thing to say, just a series of observations (with lots of data behind it).
