Scenario: I am sitting on the sofa and I type, I want to go to the dentist / cinema / vacation; and fully automatically the entire exercise (ticket, appointment, billing, payment, seatreservations, return trip etc etc) is planned, all I need to do is wait for the calendar reminder. And all of that is naturally fully protected by sound data privacy.

I know it's a very unpopular opinion around here, but this was pretty much the dream and why agents were built. The problem is their inefficiency and training mechanics. However, I read about A2A as a way to achieve this through a demo, where your local machine talks with airlines and hotels to find out availability, asks you questions on preferences, and tries to find a solution. Some existing vacation planners already do this, but I know your ask is in general, and I think that was the plan for engineers. I'm sure they were steered in other directions though. Things like this could be done without AI, though, but standardization is required and to achieve that we have to deal with a very human problem: cooperative agreement. It's rare when people agree so completely on a standard, which is why some of the most basic things the Internet is based on takes forever before finally becoming a standard. Sometimes it takes just one method/format to become the standard based on popularity, but for tools to work together, it requires multiple parties to agree and then others to want to join in and adopt it. The unfortunate part is that as things expand, needs change and things get messy really quick.
