Anti-renewables groups still spending big on Meta – and met with near silence by green energy industry (reneweconomy.com.au)

A total of 12 fossil fuel and anti-renewables groups spent $1.2 million on Meta ads specifically mentioning energy.

In response just six renewable energy companies and one lobby group put ads on Meta platforms, but they spent just 1 per cent of the amount that the 12 kicked in over the same period.

There's tables in the article showing who is spending what on Facebook ads before the Vic and NSW state elections - Australian Energy Producers, Shell, and Minerals Council of Australia (including their astroturfing subsidiary Hands Off Our Fuel) are the biggest spenders.

I sometimes look at the ideological splits in regional areas and wonder if these people are being led to irrational hatred of renewables to make sure that the early movers reap the most benefit. Surely that last stick in the mud core group of farmers are going to see far less yield off their solar projects than the ones who have siezed the initiative. I wonder how many anti-solar pollies have family that have already pounced and don't want to see their profits take a hit once every man and his dog is feeding power into the grid.
